My dog has scratchy, wart-like bumps that bleed. Are they dangerous?

Pet's info: Dog | Toy Poodle | Female | 8 years and 9 months old | 7 lbs

My toy poodle grows these little bumps that look and feel scratchy on top like a wart. I sometimes pinch them off and it only bleeds a little drop. They grow back, so i quit pinching them off. What are these and are they dangerous to her. Should i have them surgically removed. they’re too small to get a picture.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This may be benign or malignant growths. This could even be an infection. This cannot be completely assessed just by looking at pictures or a description and usually requires sampling such as fine needle aspiration to determine its origin. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. This is a wart which is a benign skin growth. They are nothing to be overly concerned about. If it continues to be irritated and cause her to itch it you can have it surgically removed. These bumps can be benign or malignant growths, cysts, an allergic reaction, infection, etc. I think it would be best to take her to your veterinarian for an exam. They will most likely recommend taking a sample of them to get a diagnosis. If you can get a good picture of them you could also post another question on the forum and we might be able to give you a more specific recommendation. Thanks!

My dog has two wounds. What are they and should I see a vet?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! These could potentially represent nodules or masses that have become ulcerated. They could also be just focal patches of dermatitis. I recommend that you have Bella evaluated by your veterinarian. This is most of the time differentiated with a test called a fine needle aspirate which is easy, cheap and pain-free. Sometimes, a biopsy is required for a diagnosis. Have Bella evaluated by your veterinarian to have this test performed to try to sort out what the diagnosis is so that the best course of action can be determined. If it does not appear to be a mass on examination, they can at least do cytology of the superficial aspect and see if infected and prescribe antibiotics for it. Keeping my fingers crossed that it is something benign!
