Why is my dog sluggish, not eating, and can't jump on the bed?

She could be experiencing pain in her back or hindlimbs that is limiting her mobility. Her veterinarian will carefully examine her and try to detect any sore areas. Poor Pocholo! It definitely sounds like he isn't feeling well for some reason. Unfortunately, these symptoms are very vague and could be caused by almost any type of illness or injury, so there's no way to say what might be wrong without being able to examine him. I would recommend taking him to the vet for a check-up as soon as you are able to - he/she can do some blood work or other testing if needed to help determine what's wrong and get him started on appropriate treatment for the problem.

I’m sorry Buddy isn’t feeling well. The good news is that his blood work looked good! Sometimes with real nebulous Symptoms such as what Buddy is displaying it can be difficult to pin point the cause. When he is sleeping standing or sitting it makes me suspect that laying down is uncomfortable. This makes me wonder is his belly or his back is uncomfortable . Young dogs certainly have a reputation for eating things they shouldn’t and an intestinal foreign body would be high on my list of concerns. Also I see a lot of back pain in these types of cases as well. Sometimes serial examinations are helpful because you find things on a repeat examination that maybe wasn’t as evident the day before. I'm sorry to hear that Charlie isn't feeling well. His behavior certainly doesn't normal for him. I would recommend that he sees his veterinarian. It is not uncommon for small breed dogs to experience back or neck pain. The pain can be intense. Sign in the dog are usually a reluctance to jump on furniture, refusal to do stairs, shaking and hesitant to move. In worst case scenarios, some dogs was will experience neurologic problems such as weakness or paralysis of the limbs. Charlie will need to see his veterinarian to know if this is what is causing his symptoms verses something else. In the meantime, keep him quiet and encourage him to eat and drink. Based on the information provided, I'm not sure how old AJ is, or how long this has been going on, but it looks like she is not spayed. This sort of change in behavior can be due to a variety of things. Arthritis and pain can decrease a dog's activity level, as can problems with the heart or lungs. Any time I have an unspayed female with decreased activity level, pyometra (infection of the uterus) also has to be a concern. A check up with your veterinarian to look for a fever or signs of pain is a good place to start. If they find abnormalities, checking bloodwork to look for signs of infection or organ dysfunction would be the next step. I hope AJ is feeling better soon.

Poor Chloe! It sounds like she may be painful somewhere. I often see dogs with back or neck pain that act this way, because doing stairs or jumping is painful for them. It's also possible that she may have injured herself somehow, or has some type of orthopedic problem that makes these activities uncomfortable. I would recommend taking her to the vet for an exam. He/she may be able to determine what the problem is by palpating her neck, back, and legs, and may also recommend x-rays or other testing if needed to help diagnose the problem.

Aw poor Byron! It sounds like he is pretty sick. Some of what your describing may be related to back or neck pain or abdominal pain caused by gastrointestinal disease. Without an examination it's difficult to say what is causing the problem. I recommend taking Byron to see a veterinarian right away so he can be examined and the cause of his illness can be determined. He may need pain medication and because there are no safe over the counter pain medications for dogs you will need a prescription pain medication from a veterinarian.
