My dog is sleepy, crying, and has eye discharge. What's wrong?

Hi there. So sorry that Sara is not feeling well. Her symptoms are not specific for any one illness or disease process so it is hard for me to speculate as to what may be wrong. I can tell you however, that she is sick and she needs to be seen by a veterinarian for an examination. I am a bit worried that she could have a uterine infection since she is not spayed. If she is not up to date on her vaccinations she may have caught a viral disease like parvo or distemper. Those are just a few things that come to mind right away that might be going on. The bottom line is that she is ill and my suggestion is that you get her to your vet ASAP for an examination. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Your pet needs to be seen by a vet right away. Even with no other symptoms, extreme lethargy is very concerning. Your dog may have eaten something that disagreed with her, swallowed something that has caused an obstruction, has parasites, is coming down with some kind of infection, there are a number of possibilities. Your vet will do an exam and labwork to determine the cause of your pets symptoms and give you some treatment options based on those results.

Hi! Yes, for sure there is something wrong with Lily's eyes. She looks like she is squinting, and the third eyelids are up. Sometimes dogs look like this when they are feeling unwell in general, especially if they have a fever. Or, the eyes could be the main problem. She could have scratched the surface of her eyes (this is called corneal ulcers), or possibly an eye infection. Ideally, she needs to be checked out by her vet. They can examine her, and have a close look at her eyes. There a few tests your vet can run on Lily's eyes, to help sort out what the problem is. I hope she feels better soon!

Lethargy, not moving and keeping the eyes closed indicates that Sofie is sick. She could be painful or have a fever. Almost anything can cause the symptoms she is exhibiting ranging from Lyme disease, to cancer, to kidney failure, to nausea, etc. I recommend that Sofie be examined by a Vet today. It does sound like Harley is feeling sick, and this lethargy could be caused by a systemic illness, infection, inflammation, or injury. The runny nose could be due to a respiratory infection or allergies, while her looking at her behind could be due to impacted anal sacs, pain, or intestinal worms. I do think it would be a good idea to have her seen by a vet tomorrow, and I don't feel you need to rush to the the vet tonight if she is eating and drinking. But definitely have her seen by a vet in the morning for a health check if she is still acting this way tomorrow.

This is very concerning as, while her vaccinations were done on time, she is not fully protected against distemper and parvo yet. Purulent discharge from her nose and eyes are concerning as they could , of course be a simple respiratory infection, but also a sign of canine distemper. Please take your puppy to a veterinarian for an exam and some diagnostics.

I'm sorry to hear Thor isn't feeling well, While it is possible that Thor may have a cold, I would be concerned by his lethargy and not wanting to eat. At his age, we do become concerned about several possibilities, including kidney disease, liver disease, GI issues, diabetes, or a growth of some kind. If he does not improve within 24 hours or begins to worsen, I would recommend he be evaluated by his regular veterinarian, have any necessary testing done (xrays, bloodwork) to determine what may be going on, and start any treatment that may be needed to help resolve it.
