My dog has a skin lump oozing white stuff. Is it a cyst or wart?

It seems to be a skin cyst of some sort. It's very difficult for me to know without seeing it. Based on your description, you are likely seeing sebaceous cysts, comedones or possibly a wart. Either way, the actual cyst is not a big problem, but it could indicate another issue. Some conditions can cause an increased incidence of these cysts, so it's best to have your vet check out Demon and see if there is any need for concern. Also, I do not recommend squeezing the cysts, because you can sometimes cause inflammation and in-turn infection to the area. I hope that helps and all is well with Demon.

This looks like a typica skin wart/skin tumor or cyst. Since it has been present for so long and has not grown at all, it is probably benign (non cancerous). It looks as if the area has been irritated somehow, probably by your dog scratching at it, and is now bleeding and may be infected. Or, if it is a cyst, the white material may just be cystic exudate. I would recommend cleaning the area with some dilute hydrogen peroxide then applying some antibiotic ointment to help prevent infection and to help it heal more quickly. Hello and thank you for your post! Thank you for the pictures as this helps narrow down what this could be. It appears to be a cyst or wart like mass that has developed. If Joyce is an older dog, changes to the skin are typical and we can see warts and cysts develop more frequently with age. If you are concerned about this, then I would take her in to see your vet to see if they can definitively say whether or not it is a cyst or wart. There are simple tests we can do in the hospital setting to get a better idea of what it could be. We can stick a small needle in the mass and look at the contents under a microscope to help better understand what it could be. Hope this helps! It looks like a little wart or tiny cyst. These aren't unusual in mature dogs, but it's worth mentioning it to your vet the next time she's in for her annual visit just to make sure. If it does change color, texture, or size, get her in sooner to have it checked.

Luckily no, this is a wart which is a benign skin growth. Many dogs get warts as they age and they are nothing to be overly concerned about unless they get very large or are in a location to be cut when dogs are getting groomed. This looks like either a cyst or a papilloma wart. Both very common and benign. Unfortunately, our system is having a glitch and I can't enlarge the photo so I can't get a great look but I'm pretty confident it's not much to be concerned with. Personally, I would not be worried about it at all. Just point it out to your vet at Gizmo's next exam.

What you are describing sounds like a sebaceous cyst. These are commonly found in the skin in dogs. A lot of times they will express a thick white or yellowish material. This is normal. The cysts do not usually need to be removed unless they become infected or are irritating the dog. If your dog has one cyst they may develop more down the road but it should be nothing to worry about.
