My dog is shivering, stiff, and vomiting blood. Should I see a vet?

The lethargy and trembling could be related to nausea, but if Grif continues to show these signs I'd recommend having him examined by your vet. There are many, many diseases that can cause these symptoms and your vet might recommend running some tests to determine the underlying cause (such as blood work and x-rays of the abdomen). Your vet can also treat with anti-nausea medication and fluids if Grif seems dehydrated to help him feel better quickly.

Poor guy. I would be cautious here and take him in to your local vet right away if this has been going on for more than 30 mins-1 hr or if he is lethargic. A number of things could be going on here such as a toxin ingestion, severe stomach upset episodes or an underlying disease such as Addison's disease. Check his gum color immediately and if you notice pale gums then he should be seen right away as well. I do hope that this is just a stomach upset and that he starts to improve over the next hour. If he does seem to calm down, then you should definitely fast him for the next 12 hrs (water only), then you should feed him a bland diet of boiled plain chicken or lean ground turkey and white rice for the next few days to help settle his stomach. There are numerous reasons for vomiting including ingestion of a foreign body, pancreatitis, viral or bacterial infections, liver or kidney disease, and more. I recommend a trip to your veterinarian where they can perform radiographs (x-rays) of the abdomen to check for signs of obstruction, and lab tests to rule out other causes of nausea. I hate to hear that Pantufla is not feeling well! Just like humans, there are many many causes of vomiting and some of the causes can be very serious. Any pet vomiting beyond 24 hours should be examined by the veterinarian. Any pet who is vomiting more than twice in a day or not holding down water also needs to be examined by the veterinarian. I am concerned that the shaking you are seeing indicates abdominal pain which is very worrisome for an intestinal blockage or pancreatitis. I recommend to have Pantufla examined today.
