My dog is growling, throwing up, and shaking. What should I do?

If Graham is still gagging and not acting his normal self, then I recommend taking him to a veterinarian. He may have just an upset stomach, he may have pancreatitis or he could have a foreign body. She is probably shivering because her body is trying to adjust after losing so much food and fluid when she vomited. Try to keep her calm and comfortable for now. You may want to see if she needs to get up and walk outside. If her abnormal behavior continues for more than a few hours you should consider taking her to be examined by the vet. I hope this helps. Vomiting can be observed with conditions such as gastroenteritis, pancreatitis, dietary indiscretion, gastrointestinal foreign body ingestion and obstruction, among other possibilities. Shaking can be a sign of discomfort. There is no way of treating this at home without knowing what is actually going on. For this reason, I highly recommend that you have Keeko evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment as soon as possible as I am afraid he is likely becoming dehydrated. They would be able to check for these possibilities and also check his hydration status and give him medications to make him feel better. Good luck!

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. There are many causes of vomiting and the shaking is probably him getting ready to vomit. Many times the diet is responsible for any abnormal GI symptoms. I would recommend switching to a different food altogether and consider adding in a probiotic such as Purina Fortiflora. If this does not help, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine him so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I hope this helps! The signs that you are seeing may be due to a variety of factors, including nausea/GI upset, pain, an infection (such as uterine), or another underlying medical issue. I would recommend she be evaluated by her regular veterinarian to determine the underlying cause for her symptoms, have any necessary testing done (xrays, bloodwork), and get started on any treatment she may need. Hi shaking can be a vague sign, of having a temperature or being in pain, or something more specific like having eaten mouldy food for example. I would try to offer Bruce some light diet, and monitor over the next few hours. Hope this helps.

Yes, it sounds like Wonder is painful (shaking), and not herself due to the vomiting. She may also have a fever which could make her lethargic. She is a young dog so most likely she has a stomach upset from something she ate. If she can't hold anything down you should take her to your veterinarian for treatment. She could have eaten something bad, or have something caught in her stomach or intestines. They will do an exam then most likely blood work and an X-ray if needed to find the specific reason she is sick. Then they can prescribe the appropriate treatment. This is a fairly common reason dogs get sick and usually they improve quickly.
