My dog is shivering but seems fine. Is something wrong with my dog?

Hi there my dog is shivering last couple hours, still wants to eat, still wants to go for walk if I asked, her nose is cold and wet, but I can see something is not right. Should I be worried? Thank you

I am very sorry to hear that Amber is not herself, For the time being I would continue to monitor at home. She may be feeling slightly under the weather, and more signs are to follow soon. Or perhaps, something has simply frightened her and she will return to herself in a few hours.

If you notice vomiting, diarrhea, inappetence or lethargy please post another question so that I may help you further. In the meantime, try to help Amber feel more secure by trying the following;

I am very sorry that you are experiencing these issues with Amber. I will suggest a few tactics to help you both have some peace. The key is to helping Amber feel safe and secure at home, increasing exercise to help with stress and also increasing mental stimulation.

Increased exercise especially a long afternoon or evening walk
Chew toys
Puzzle toys
Interactive games like fetch and hide and go seek
Leaving the TV, a fan or a White House generating machine on
DAP- dog appeasing pheromone releasing diffusers

Yes, I would be worried about Amelia. Dogs have a higher temperature than humans normally, so she may not have a fever. She could be in pain causing the shivering and not eating. I see that she isn't spayed, and she could be suffering from a pyometra. This is an infection of the uterus that is fatal without treatment, and will cause pain and a lack of appetite. It could also be she injured herself, but without seeing her in person, I can't say for certain. Because I can't rule out a pyometra and the fact that it's very serious, I think it's best you take her into a vet immediately. If she does have a pyometra, spaying her is part of the recommended treatment. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. Why is my puppy shivering, looking down, and acting so unwell?

Hello, sorry to hear about Ariel. She could be feeling sick either due to allergies, pain, or a high fever if she has some sort of infection. If she is otherwise stable, you may continue to monitor her until the morning and have your veterinarian look at her if she is still shivering. However, if you note any vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, yelping, or pain then she should be evaluated by a veterinarian today. Hope this helps and best of luck.

My older dog is shaking all over. Why is her whole body trembling?

If she is unvaccinated for distemper, I would potentially consider this as a possibility but in older animals, distemper is not commonly seen. She may be uncomfortable from something (painful) or an infection / systemic disease. If adjusting the temperature to keep her warm does not help, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine her so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. Why is my high-energy pit bull suddenly shaking and lying around?

Hi and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Although Mya is still eating, drinking, and having normal bathroom habits, the shaking and lethargy is a concern. Shaking can sometimes be an indication of pain or discomfort in dogs or can be a symptom of certain endocrine diseases. I would recommend having her seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible. In this case, it is very hard to say for certain what is going on with Mya without examining her first. A veterinary exam would be a good place to start so she can be evaluated head to tail. Your veterinarian may recommend blood work and/or x-rays be run on Mya as well to help determine a diagnosis. I hope this helps and thanks again for posting!

She is probably shivering because her body is trying to adjust after losing so much food and fluid when she vomited. Try to keep her calm and comfortable for now. You may want to see if she needs to get up and walk outside. If her abnormal behavior continues for more than a few hours you should consider taking her to be examined by the vet. I hope this helps.
