Why is my 6-year-old Yorkie shivering but acting completely normal?

Poor Princess does sound like something is off! Lethargy and anorexia are both very general signs of illness, and can be caused by things like systemic illness, infection, inflammation, or injury. I see that she isn't spayed, and a major concern for is pyometra. This is an infection of the uterus that is fatal without treatment. Because I can't see her in person to rule out a pyo, I would take her into a vet now. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. Best of luck.

I think this could be a serious problem. Puppies this age and this size can get very sick very easily. He really needs to see a vet. I would be worried that he may have parvovirus or distemper virus.

I would recommend that Bella be seen by a veterinarian right away as the symptoms you report could be signs of something serious like low blood sugar. She is a tiny little dog and a Yorkie as well so there are some breed related issues that can cause similar signs. If she is otherwise stable, you may continue to monitor her until the morning and have your veterinarian look at her if she is still shivering. I'm so sorry your pet is so ill. It sounds like Holly may have an infection. Bacterial infection causes pet to shake and be uncomfortable, they are also lethargic not eating and have a fever. You can certainly check her rectal temperature and if it is above 102.5 degrees Fahrenheit, then an infection is likely and she needs to see a vet. I see she isn't spayed so it is very likely she has an infection of her uterus (pyometra) which can happen at any time and can be life threatening if not treated quickly. Your pup could be shivering because she is cold or in pain. Because she is acting normally, I would monitor her for now. Take her temperature rectally. A dog's normal temperature is between 101-102.5F. If it's above 103F, or the shivering continues through the night, I would have her seen by a vet.
