My dog is shaking, throwing up, and lethargic. What should I do?

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. There are many causes of vomiting and the shaking is probably him getting ready to vomit. Many times the diet is responsible for any abnormal GI symptoms. I would recommend switching to a different food altogether and consider adding in a probiotic such as Purina Fortiflora. If this does not help, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine him so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I hope this helps! Dogs can sometimes get growly when they do not feel well. The question is why does she not feel well and what is making her vomit. There are numerous reasons for vomiting including ingestion of a foreign body, pancreatitis, viral or bacterial infections, liver or kidney disease, and more. I recommend a trip to your veterinarian where they can perform radiographs (x-rays) of the abdomen to check for signs of obstruction, and lab tests to rule out other causes of nausea. It sounds as your pet is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet urgently, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. . if the vet thinks it is more serious he will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

She is probably shivering because her body is trying to adjust after losing so much food and fluid when she vomited. Try to keep her calm and comfortable for now. You may want to see if she needs to get up and walk outside. If her abnormal behavior continues for more than a few hours you should consider taking her to be examined by the vet. I hope this helps. Poor Ava sounds pretty sick, and she may have a stomach illness. She could be trembling because she has a fever, and I'm concerned that she's not eating much. Try feeding her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If she refuses to eat the bland diet, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. Hi there. While it is not abnormal for Charlie to be lethargic and behave differently when everyone leaves-this is a bit much. I would recommend taking him in to your veterinarian in case something else is going on. Pancreatitis, intoxication, and a few other diseases can start with this presentation. Shivering in dogs is often a pain response (can also be nervousness, cold, etc). If these behaviors continue I recommend taking him in as soon as you can to try to prevent it from getting worse. The lethargy and trembling could be related to nausea, but if Grif continues to show these signs I'd recommend having him examined by your vet. There are many, many diseases that can cause these symptoms and your vet might recommend running some tests to determine the underlying cause (such as blood work and x-rays of the abdomen). Your vet can also treat with anti-nausea medication and fluids if Grif seems dehydrated to help him feel better quickly.
