My dog has severe liquid diarrhea and vomiting. What should I do?

Poor guy. It sounds like your pet Shiro has a bout of colitis (inflammation of the colon) which can often be caused by intestinal parasites. I would highly recommend having him seen by your vet soon for a fecal exam and medications to help resolve his colitis. Only antibiotics can help resolve this in most cases, which has to be prescribed by your vet. Until you can get him seen you can start a probiotic with him, such as Culturelle over the counter or Fortiflora. This can help with some of the inflammation by restoring the good intestinal flora. It sounds like Leo is sick and I recommend to have him examined by his veterinarian. Pets can develop diarrhea and vomiting due to many conditions including new food or treats, bacterial over growth, viral infections, parasites or other even organ disease. With continued diarrhea, there are often bacterial shifts in the gut that will make matters worse regardless of the initial cause. Make sure to bring in a sample of fresh stool. The doctor will check him for parasites and bacterial over growth. Many times a bland diet can help and then a slow, gradual introduction to the new food can be done. A bland diet can consist of 25% boiled white meat chicken and 75% boiled white rice. This should all be plain. A good diet in general is Royal Canin and I recommend to feed this brand. Based on his severe symptoms I would highly recommend taking him to your nearest vet right away for some testing and treatment depending on his underlying illness. Some possible causes of vomiting, weight loss, appetite and liquid stool are parvovirus, foreign body obstruction or a bacterial infection. The vet will likely start with a parvovirus test (especially if Scrappy is not fully vaccinated), and additional testing if needed. Puppies can get dehydrated very quickly when they are both vomiting and having loose stool. Once we know what is going on with Scrappy, we will know how to treat him and hopefully get him well again. Until you can get him in you should offer him plenty of water and perhaps even Pedialyte (non-flavored) diluted with water and a liquid diet (Ensure) can be tried in small amounts. I would seek out veterinary attention. It is hard to say what could ve wrong, but with small dogs, being sick like this for any length of time can be dangerous. They dont have much (in terms of body weight and resources) to sustain them. If they get sick, they get dehydrated very quickly and it can turn dangerous quickly.
