My dog has severe liquid diarrhea. Does he need to see a vet today?

His veterinarian will examine him and determine if testing is needed such as fecal testing and possibly bloodwork. From there, treatment will be started to make him feel better. You could try feeding him a bland diet like boiled chicken and plain white rice if he’ll eat it. Your vet might be able to send you with a digestive diet if Crowley is an established patient and current on his physical exam. Otherwise there isn’t much to do until his visit. If the diarrhea is getting worse you may want to see if you can move his appointment up.

This combined with the loose stool are signs of gastrointestinal upset. The dribbling urine though is not a typical sign of GI disease and it is worrisome. Yes, i do think that Duffy needs to see the vet. Young dogs with gastrointestinal signs can have a number of problems of varying severity - anything from intestinal parasites to the very serious GI infection parvovirus to a foreign object lodged in the GI tract. She's been vomiting nearly 24 hours and by this point has likely lost considerable fluids and electrolytes, so yes, I would get her in today and get the problem diagnosed and treated appropriately.

Yes that would be best, especially if Leo is lethargic and not eating. If he’s eating and drinking you can give boiled chicken and rice and a dose of pepto bismol. There is a section on this website that you can get the dosage for common over the counter medications. If it was done on his first visit, it may be repeated or additional tests recommended. Depending on his results, medication will likely be prescribed. A diet change to a prescription low fat diet may be beneficial as well. I typically do not recommend extended fasting on puppies as is common in adults with diarrhea. He is growing and needs to eat.
