My dog vomited and has odd liquid poop. Should I take him to the vet?

Yes that would be best, especially if Leo is lethargic and not eating. If he’s eating and drinking you can give boiled chicken and rice and a dose of pepto bismol. There is a section on this website that you can get the dosage for common over the counter medications. I'm sorry Leo isn't doing well at the moment! Given that both dogs have respiratory infection, his symptoms could be due to that. Respiratory infections cause a dog to be lethargic as well as have a decrease in appetite. Vomiting can occur with a respiratory infection because a dog can cough a lot leading to that happening. Diarrhea, however, isn't typically seen with a respiratory infection, and that could be caused by intestinal worms. Puppies typically care them, and if Leo hasn't been dewormed lately, he could have gotten them from your new puppy. Finally, I'm not sure if Leo has been fully vaccinated or not, but if he hasn't, his symptoms could be caused by parvovirus or distemper. Both are highly contagious and very serious. I don't think Leo is being jealous, I think he is legitimately ill. Because I can't see him in person to rule out something serious like parvo or distemper and because I don't know his vaccination status, I do think having him seen by a vet sooner rather than later is best. It's concerning he hasn't eaten or had much water in at least 24 hours, and it needs to be checked out by a vet. Please bring him into a vet today. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

I would bring a fresh stool sample with you so the vet can check for microscopic parasites. There are many different types of parasites that can cause diarrhea and there is no one medication to treat them all. They may also want to test Lieo for parvovirus as this is common in young puppies and causes vomiting and diarrhea. Either way, Lieo needs medical treatment to prevent further fluid loss which will lead to dehydration. Once they have a cause they can get him medications to help him recover. If Leo is vomiting 2-4x a week routinely I would be concerned because this is not normal for dogs. In the pictures you provided it looks like the food is not fully digested. I would be worried about gastritis, a blockage, or irritable bowel disease. My best recommendation is to take Leo to the vet so the issue can be sorted out. They may recommend lab work and x-rays. I would suggest to withhold food for the next 8-12 hours and then start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, more vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. Vomiting and diarrhea can be caused by many conditions primarily gastrointestinal in nature such gastroenteritis and gastrointestinal foreign body ingestion and obstruction or other conditions such as pancreatitis or kidney disease. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Trigger. I recommend that he sees his veterinarian. Being such a small dog, I am concerned that he is dehydrated by now. His veterinarian will examine him and determine if testing is needed such as fecal testing and possibly bloodwork. From there, treatment will be started to make him feel better.
