My dog is sad, not eating, and tail tucked. Is she sick or injured?

These are very unspecific signs of being unwell. You can observe her for a while, fast her for 24 hours and then offer her some boiled white rice and boiled white boneless chicken. If she has a tummy ache this should clear that up. If you suspect that she is in pain somewhere else of if she is deteriorating and or getting lethargic, you need to take her to a veterinarian for an exam.

I'm sorry to hear that Lucky is not feeling well. She appears to be painful in your pictures. She could be experiencing abdominal or even back pain. She will need to see a veterinarian for a thorough examination to determine if she is in fact painful and if so, where she hurts. This will guide treatment for her. Poor Lucy! If she's not eating anything it's possible she may be in some pain. If your vet didn't prescribe pain medications, talking with them to see if that is an option may help Lucy feel well enough to eat. If she is on pain medications or other medications, these can sometimes cause some stomach upset. Offering a bland meal of boiled rice and chicken may help with minor tummy upset, however if she continues to refuse food or looks very sad and lethargic, scheduling a recheck with your vet to make sure there isn't anything else ongoing is best.

Poor Lyl. There are so many things that can cause not eating and lethargy so it is hard to say for sure what is going on. I would make sure her gums are pink - if they are white, yellow or grayish blue then she is in critical condition and needs to go to the emergency clinic. Otherwise, you can try feeding her some plain boiled chicken (no bones) and white rice tonight and see if she will eat it. If not, then I would have your vet take a look at her. Your vet will be able to determine if she is in pain anywhere or if something else is going on. They will be able to do bloodwork and even X-rays if needed. Your dog needs to be seen by your vet as soon as possible. Any abrupt change in behavior or attitude is a sign he's not feeling well, and without an exam from a vet there's no real way to know what's going on and therefore, how to treat it. He could have eaten something he shouldn't have that's causing an obstruction or irritation, he could have been exposed to something toxic that you weren't aware of, there's a number of possibilities. Your vet will do an exam, lab work, possibly x-rays if indicated, and based on these results, your vet will be better able to understand what is going on with your dog and how best to treat him.

This lethargy and loss of appetite are both signs of illness include dental problems, systemic illness, infection, or injury. Try offering him some boiled white meat chicken (no bones or skin) and white rice. If he refuses to eat this, have him seen by a vet.
