What to put on dog's ripped nose from digging that's safe to lick?

You could try using a small amount of Vaseline or Bag Balm on this area to help with the dryness - some dogs will try to rub off any topical medications that might be applied, unfortunately, so I can't say if he will leave these alone or not. Normally, using only a small amount is best, so that it doesn't feel sticky and strange to the dog :)

Oh my! Poor Coco! Luckily the nose has good blood supply and it should heal just fine. Sometimes just wiping with a warm wet cloth and drying thoroughly once per day can help with a moist dermatitis. Lesions in this location can be a little tricky to treat with topical medications because most dogs are able to lick them off, at least to some degree. You can try to clean this area with an antiseptic chlorhexidine cleanser twice a day (Hibiclens is one brand), but take care to rinse it well and do not let Bella lick it while you are cleaning. Breaking open a vitamin E capsule and rubbing it on this area may be mildly helpful, but it won't hurt if she licks a little off. As Jessica mentioned, one of the most important things to do is to keep an e-collar on Bella to prevent her from rubbing at this area further. If this lesion persists for another week or worsens at any point, you'll need to take her to a vet for evaluation. It's possible that she may need oral antibiotics or anti-inflammatory medications to help get this area under control. I hope that everything goes well!

I actually would not recommend putting anything topical on it if he can potentially lick it off. Neosporin is not particularly toxic if a small amount is ingested but it won't have a chance to work if your dog is licking. I'd recommend putting an e-collar on him to keep him from licking. If there is a raw spot or other skin lesion it would be a good idea to have your vet take a look - he might need oral medications for it to resolve. I doubt he would need anesthesia unless there is a skin growth that is there.

Vaseline is safe to use but if you want something more natural then the ResQ skin treatment is all natural and would be fine to use to apply to the paw pads until resolved. If the paw pads begin to look swollen or show any signs of infection (pus, etc.) then I would recommend having Snowball examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made.
