Is it safe to use Revolution and K9 Advantix together on my dog?

Pet's info: Dog | Goldendoodle | Female | spayed | 1 year and 4 months old | 48 lbs

Can we use revolution and k9 advantix together? My dog gets sick from any heart worm treatment by mouth but I don't think she is getting good flea control with revolution. I would rather not use a collar.

Hi yes you can use both treatments on Daphne but i suggest separating the application by two weeks. You can also consider using a product like Proheart6 - an injectable heartworm prevention given at the vet hospital that lasts for 6mths. I find that revolution works well for fleas, but doesn't cover all types of ticks. Hope this helps!

Its great that you want to make sure that Daphne has the best parasite control. You can use both products together but I would recommend separating them by two weeks. That said, Revolution is very good for flea control but it doesn't protect against all types of ticks. If ticks are a concern in your area, it may be worth using advantix with a different heartworm prevention- I use proheart6 on my dog which is an injection given at the vet office and it lasts for 6mths.

Revolution isn't licensed for all ticks so if ticks are a problem then I do recommend using both. You could also consider an oral flea and tick product like Naxguard or Brevecto as well if Lucy's skin becomes irritated using both topical products at the same time.

Hi there. While there's technically no reason that these two medications can't be used together, they are both heartworm preventatives - so there's quite a bit over overlap in what they do, and both should not be needed at the same time. If your pup is currently on Interceptor and you want to add a second medication to cover fleas, I would recommend using something like Nexgard or Bravecto - these are flea/tick meds only, so you wouldn't be treating her unnecessarily for heartworms with two different meds.

Yes you can give Capstar and Advantix at the appropriate dose simultaneously, if no other medications were given in the last 14 days at least. Revolution cover for heartworm so it is not necessary to cover Sophie with heartgard (and actually it is not indicated). Is it safe to use Adams Plus flea collar if my dog is on Revolution?

Those two products are usually fine to use together. However in some very sensitive dogs that could cause muscle tremors and shaking. I would wait at least 2-3 days after applying the Revolution before placing a collar on Cadbury. If he has any tremors/shaking remove the collar and alert your veterinarian. If revolution is not working for your flea/tick control you could consider adding on nexguard which is an oral flea and tick medication or even a Seresto collar.

Bravecto and Advantix contain different drugs that work in different ways - it is safe to give the two together. You should also be sure that Zeke is on a heartworm preventative - this is the main disease in dogs that is spread through mosquitoes.

Can I use Revolution for dog ticks and fleas, or do I need more?

Revolution does not protect against fleas, so I'd recommend using a medication such as Nexgard which protects against fleas and ticks (including American dog ticks). It's a monthly oral flea treatment program. That way, you don't need to combine two medications to give Candy protection against fleas and ticks. Typically, I do not recommend using two different flea treatment programs togethers. The American dog tick can spread diseases such as Rocky Mountain spotted fever and Tularemia. Can I use Seresto and Revolution together on my dog safely?

Yes you can combine them as they are completely different types of medication. Seresto contains Flumethrin (tick repellent) and Imidacloprid (interferes with the development of fleas and their larvae). Revolution is an avermectin which kills internal parasites such as heartworm and intestinal worms and actually kills fleas.
