My dog has a large red thing in his irritated eyes. Is it a worm?

It looks like a swollen, engorged blood vessel. I am fairly sure that it is not a parasite/worm. Enlarged blood vessel like this can be a result of allergic reaction, trauma or inflammation to the eye bulb. If the eye is bothering Todd, please take him to your local vet for ophtalmic examination.

Hi there, you're seeing a larger blood vessel in Lyla's eye. This is likely normal (the photographs appear normal to me), but if Lyla is showing any sign of discomfort with her eye (discharge, squinting, rubbing her eyes) or if the appearance of that blood vessel changes, then it's best to have a vet take a look. I am sorry to hear this! His eye does look very irritated- and the area around his eye that has a 'cobblestone' appearance suggests that he has some chronic irritation. I would want to rule out a few things that cause these signs including stray eyelashes that are 'ingrown', eyelid abnormalities, allergies and mites. The good news is that most of these things can be treated successfully! I would bring him in and have a few eye tests done and have them closely examined with magnification (sometimes an ophthalmologist is recommended) and see what kind of treatment plan is needed. Until you can bring him in, over the counter lubricating eye drops may bring some short term relief. I hope this helps!

This could be an eye infection or Joey may have injured his eye. Any eye problem should be seen by a vet promptly as leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I'd take him into the vet in the morning. Best of luck.

It appears to be mildly inflamed. You can rinse it with saline eye was hand apply a warm compress to help. If you notice a mucous discharge or he does not want to hold it open, then it will need to be seen by your vet for prescription eye drops

It seems like a possible eye infection or allergic reaction (the other eye seems slightly affected too, unless it is always this way). you should take Krissy to your vet ASAP in order to get it checked and treated, it will probably require a course of antibiotic eye drops.

This is a very abnormal looking eye and it appears that your dog has some serious issues with the cornea. The cornea is very cloudy and hazy and the pink lesion looks like a large ulcer on the cornea. This eye is likely chronically dry and lacking in tear production. This eye looks like it is in imminent danger of rupturing. I would recommend that you take your pet to the closest emergency clinic if you are unable to get help from a regular daytime vet right away. Your pet should be seen immediately and it is not a good idea to wait for 7 days. Your pet will likely need multiple prescription eye medications and possibly surgery in order to repair the defect. Please do not try to treat this without a proper diagnosis and proper medication.
