Why does my dog have a red sore on her nose that looks like a burn?

So, there are a number of things this could be. 1) This could be an allergic response to something in her environment or an insect, 2) This could be a fungal or bacterial infection that could be primary OR secondary to trauma or an allergy. Ideally I would do a prep on a slide and look under the microscope to see if there is a significant bacterial or yeast population. Regardless, however, I think she would benefit from some topical treatment depending on what is seen under the microscope. If it seems to be spreading, and the area is swollen, some injectable or oral medications may be indicated.

Poor pup. It looks like an abrasion from this photo, commonly seen when dogs rub their noses excessively. This can happen with digging or being crated. I would monitor it but it does not appear to need intervention at this time.

That area looks very irritated and i'd be concerned there is a burn, severe irritation, or even a growth/tumor causing the hair loss and wounding of the skin. Since so much is exposed, it's a good idea to have it examined by your vet right away. Until you can get to the vet, keeping the area clean and dry and placing an Elizabethan (cone) collar on Sophie can help reduce irritation, however it should be seen in person.

From the picture it actually looks more like a deep skin infection to me. This could be bacterial or fungal, or even a hypersensitivity reaction (less likely). I would recommend that she be examined by your veterinarian soon. They may look at a sample under the microscope to help determine what therapies might be most helpful. Thank you for posting the picture. It is really helpful. This lesion could be many things, and an examination with a veterinarian would be the first step toward a diagnosis and treatment plan. In my experience lesions such as this one in a young dog are usually either a histiocytoma, eosinophilic furunculosis, or ringworm. All of these can pop up quickly, and they are all treated differently. A histiocytoma is a benign tumor that will usually resolve within 4-6 weeks. The others need medications. A veterinarian can do a needle aspirate to help make the diagnosis and determine what the best treatment plan should be. Best of luck and I hope Tank improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.

From the picture, I'm concerned that doesn't look like ringworm to me. It looks like it could be a growth or an ulcerated area. It looks pretty red and sore in the picture, and unfortunately without seeing Chloe in person, I can't say for certain what it is. I would take her into a vet to get this diagnosed and treated, try to have her seen by her vet in the next few days. I hope this helps!

This appears to be a histiocytoma. If it is, it should resolve on it's own. ( https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx?pid=19239&id=4952066 ) I suggest you just monitor it for the next month or so. If it does not resolve or it gets worse, then a vet visit would be warranted.
