My dog's red eye has discharge and she's pawing. What to do?

Poor Luna! Taking her into the vet on Monday is exactly the right thing to do. You can use a cloth to continue to try to wipe her ear but I would avoid making it damp as water could get into her ear That will make any ear infection worse. I would place an Ecollar on her to keep her from scratching at her ear, as that will cause trauma to the ear. You can make an Ecollar at home, and I will put a link below on how to do that. The sclera looking purple is very concerning for severe irritation and the pawing may indicate that Tinky is in pain. Just like humans, pets can get many eye issues and it could range from an infection to glaucoma or even a tumor. I recommend to have Tinky examined today if possible. It's important to determine the underlying cause and to make her more comfortable quickly. Pawing at the eye is also bad since she could cause a scratch. She should wear an elizabethan collar at all times to prevent injury. Best of luck.

This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration, corneal ulcer, conjunctivitis, dry eye (also known as KCS), among many other conditions. A check up would be needed as appropriate treatment would include antibiotics and anti-inflammatory eye drops. Corneal injuries must be ruled out as well. Poor Molly! Yes, you should take her to the vet if she is having eye discharge and seems to be rubbing her eye. Molly may have a corneal ulcer, uveitis, or even just allergies causing these issues. Eyes are fairly delicate structures and problems can progress rapidly, so it's better to be safe than sorry in these cases. Until you can get to the vet, keep an e-collar (cone) on Molly to prevent further rubbing or scratching of the eye, as this could make matters worse. I hope that she feels better soon!

Yes, definitely take Lexi into the vet. I would be concerned she could scratched her cornea, which would lead to much large problems.
