My dog's ear is red with brown discharge. Is she okay until the vet?

This looks like it could have an early infection. I would recommend having your veterinarian do an exam to make sure there isn't anything going on like a middle ear infection. Since you've caught it early hopefully only a short course of topical medication will be needed.

You can use a good ear cleaner and flush out that affected ear every other day until the appointment. The Vet usually uses a Q-tip to remove wax to look at it under the microscope. Most ear infections are causes by yeast and/or bacteria. This sounds like a serious bacterial or fungal ear infection. Your dog needs to be seen and examined by a veterinarian, the ears will need to be cleaned properly, the ear drums will need to be checked that they are intact and your vet will likely take a swab of the discharge to determine the cause of the ear infection. Your dog will then get treatment and medications according to the diagnosis. It is also possible that such ear infections are caused by certain allergies, Please take your dog to a veterinarian tomorrow.

It's not an immediate emergency but it is definitely very uncomfortable and painful, if you have the option to take him today to the out of hours vet i would recommend doing that, otherwise take him to your vet first thing tomorrow morning.

Poor Scout! If he is really lethargic or walking in circles then I would have him seen today as it could be an inner ear infection. But if he is otherwise acting okay except for shaking his head or pawing at it then yes, it can wait until tomorrow.
