My dog's ear is red after bath. Could it be an infection? Vet needed?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Havanese | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 1 month old

Kiba's ear seems red on the inside, only one of his ears though. We just noticed it today after we gave him a bath. We are scared to clean it too thoroughly now, we're worried it might hurt him. Do you think we should clean it more or do anything? Or just wait until tomorrow to go to the vet. It doesn't seem to bother him.

This looks like it could have an early infection. I would recommend having your veterinarian do an exam to make sure there isn't anything going on like a middle ear infection. Since you've caught it early hopefully only a short course of topical medication will be needed.
