My dog has small red bumps on his back. Are they warts or serious?

Luckily no, this is a wart which is a benign skin growth. Many dogs get warts as they age and they are nothing to be overly concerned about unless they get very large or are in a location to be cut when dogs are getting groomed. Hello. These look to be very typical warts. Just keep an eye on them to make sure they do not start enlarging. Generally, the only time we worry about warts is if a pet begins to chew on them causing bleeding. Otherwise, it is just a sign of aging & there is no need to really worry about them. It does appear that he has developed a growth on his back leg, and I do recommend all abnormal growths be evaluated by a veterinarian to determine if they are benign (non-cancerous) or not. While it could be a cyst, insect bite, or wart, there are certain types of skin cancer (such as mast cell tumors) that can look similar to what you are seeing. I would recommend Marvin see his regular veterinarian and have a needle aspirate to help determine what the growth might be, and determine any further treatment that may be needed. Good luck!

This looks like a skin wart that has become irritated. These are benign skin growths. They are nothing to be overly concerned about. As this one looks infected I would clean it with hydrogen peroxide and apply a thin film of antibacterial ointment on it. It should get less red in a few days. Hi there and thank you for using Pet Coach! From the pictures you provided, I would suspect these to be what we call sebaceous adenomas. These are benign masses of the skin / glands of the skin that typically occur in older animals. We sometimes call these "old dog warts" and they are nothing to be concerned about. Unless they are bleeding, bothering the dog or infected, we just monitor them for any changes and remove them if any of the above occur. If Tess is due for a dental cleaning, you can always have these removed at the same time if needed. Otherwise, you can just monitor these for now. That mass could be several things. Red raised hairless masses can be benign growths such as warts, histiocytomas, reactions or infected hair follicles. They can unfortunately also be malignant grows such as Mast Cell Tumor or Plasmacytoma. I would recommend to have it checked out by the vet who may be better able to tell how concerned you should be by palpating the mass and the surrounding lymphnodes. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Cersei. The picture is a little fuzzy, but she may have a wart on her muzzle. In young dogs these are spread by a virus and are contagious to other dogs. It is more common if she frequents dog parks or doggy daycare where she plays with other dogs. The warts will usually develop on the lip margins as well. If it is not a wart, then it is likely a small growth. Most are benign in young dogs, but rarely skin cancer can develop. It is best for her to see her veterinarian to determine exactly what has developed and if treatment is required. I hope this information helps!
