My old dog has skin bumps on her back and face. Are they warts?

From the pictures that you have provided the skin masses that you have noticed look very similar to a benign skin tumor known as a sebaceous adenoma. I call these old dog warts when using layman's terms. These are typically benign tumors of the skin which occur with older aged animals. Hello there. We call these "old man warts". So I am curious if maybe your dog is a bit older than 4.5 years old. Regardless, these growths usually occur in these breed-types of dogs and are NOT a cancerous process. However, sometimes they can be irritating to the dog themselves and they may scratch or bite at them. If this is the case, they can bleed and/or become infected and should be surgically removed by your veterinarian simply because they are irritating to Patch. If they are not bothering Patch at this time, I would recommend to continue to monitor them and let your veterinarian know about them the next time Patch is in for a visit.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! As dogs age, they can develop wart-like growths known as adenomas which are benign (non-cancerous) growths. These can be monitored, but if they start bleeding, become infected or she starts scratching at them they can need to be removed. Hi there and thank you for using Pet Coach! The bumps in the photos look similar to what we call sebaceous adenomas, which are benign most of the time and rarely cause problems. If they begin to change in color or size and become painful or irritating to Karlie, I would have your veterinarian take a look at them as sometimes these can be frozen off using a freezing solution or surgically removed. I would continue to monitor these bumps and if you notice the changes as mentioned above, then have your vet examine Karlie. I agree that the first picture appears to be a skin tag and the second picture looks like it could be a cyst or perhaps a Sebaceous adenoma. I am not too concerned about these masses, but obviously an examination is far better than an evaluation of a picture. Hello, Thanks for the good pictures of Edna's head. I would be more concerned for skin inflammation rather than warts based on the photos. I would be suspicious of skin fold dermatitis or demodectic mites based on her breed. I would recommend taking Edna to her veterinarian for a physical exam. They may recommend diagnostics such as a skin smear or scraping to make sure she does not have an infection from bacteria, yeast, or mites. In the meantime, I'd recommend keeping the areas clean and dry. You can use saline solution for gentle cleaning. I hope this is helpful. These are common in older dogs and more tend to appear over time. If this is the growth you are referring to, then they are typically not anything to worry about.
