My dog has a red bump in the corner of her eye. Is it serious?

Just a quick question. My dog has a red looking bump in the corner of her eye. Not really sure how to explain it. I've attached a picture.

Hello, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

It is very difficult to tell much from the photos. It doesn't look like a bump, it looks more like red skin like she scraped it or something. The eyeball itself looks fine and the eye does not appear red or irritated which is good.

I suggest you just monitor this throughout the weekend and if no improvement by early next week then get her to your vet for an exam. I don't think I'd be too worried at this stage.

It could be Ginger has an eye infection. Any eye problem needs to be checked out by a vet immediately, as leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. Please take her into a vet ASAP. Best of luck.

Unfortunately with the pictures you provided, I can't see any red in Tobby's eye. Even if the pictures did show it, I cannot diagnose anything without seeing him in person. I recommend giving your vet a call now to make an appointment for him to be seen. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem with it should be examined by a vet promptly. This is because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. The vet can diagnose what is causing the red in his eye, and how best to treat it. Best of luck.

This could be due to an eye infection, injury to the eyes, or allergies. Any eye problem needs to be checked out by a vet, as leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I'd take Sera into a vet now.

What is this pink bump on my dog's eyelid? Should I be concerned?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I would continue to monitor it for now as this may just be an area of infection or inflammation. It could even be a growth though thankfully most of the eyelid growths in dogs are benign. I would continue to monitor it for now. If it goes away then great. However, if it does not go away and actually continues to grow, I recommend you have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to look into this further and see what seems more likely. Best of luck!

Why does my dog have a bump on her eye? Is it an infection or allergy?

Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! Poor Daisy! From your picture, it appears as though Daisy's eye lid is swollen in corner (by her nose). This can be from an infection or an allergic reaction. If she is squinting her eye, keeping it closed, rubbing it, the eye is producing green-yellow discharge I recommend she be seen today. If not make an appointment to have her seen Monday. My Boston Terrier has a growing eyelid bump. What could this be?

My best guess is that this is a histiocytoma (benign tumor of the skin) but it could also be a localized allergic reaction or a cyst. Hard to tell just by looking at one photo. She should be fine to wait the two days to see the vet as long as the eyeball itself looks normal. If the eyeball doesn't look normal you need to get her in to see a different vet as soon as possible. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

My dog has a red lumpy spot over his eye. What is it? How to help?

Hello. That looks like a small growth/tumor that originated in a tear-producing gland. Without an actual biopsy, we cannot say the exact type or if it is benign/malignant. However, the majority are Meibomian Gland Adenomas and typically are benign. They can bleed, cause inflammation or infection and, if large enough, can irritate or even scratch the cornea. What should I do about a red bump on my dog's eyelid, is it serious?

It may be a cyst or local infection/irritation. Monitor for rapid change or growth, discharge or bleeding as well as discomfort. Ideally, he can be examined by your veterinarian to diagnose the underlying cause and provide the appropriate treatment. If he is pawing or rubbing at it, place an e-collar (cone) on him until he sees the vet.

My dog has a raw, worsening bump under his eye. What should I do?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could be a benign or malignant growth. This could even be an abscess. There is no way of knowing for sure without an examination though this represents a reason to seek veterinary care. This is usually determined with an examination and a fine needle aspirate (FNA) or a biopsy. Treatment depends on the findings up to that point. I recommend you have Ozzie evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and have a good night!
