My dog has a red bite-like mark. Should I wait to see the vet?

That could be a bug bite or perhaps an inflamed or infected follicle. You should be fine to watch it for a few days and see if the body naturally resolves it. That looks like a skin lesion to me, which could be from a tick bite. It could also be a ringworm lesion. Without seeing Dozer in person, I can't say for certain what is causing this mark. I am sorry to hear about Samson. If he is eating/drinking normally, normal energy level, and not in pain then I would not consider this an emergency. I would recommend an e-collar (the cone shaped collar) to prevent him from scratching the area if he is doing so, though it is hard to tell from the photo if an e-collar would end up rubbing against the area causing more harm, so you will have to determine that based on your visual assessment at home. Trimming the hair around the wound and cleaning with a mild soap or Hibiclens (available at drug stores) and applying a topical antibiotic ointment and benadryl cream may help until he can be seen tomorrow. If at any point his disposition does change then a trip to the vet is recommended.

This is likely some sort of insect bite. As long as she is acting normal and it doesn't seem to be causing a problem, there's nothing that needs to be done. Just keep an eye on it for any changes. These usually get more faint and eventually disappear after 5-10 days. If you happen to notice the mark get bigger, or a wound develops, then it would be best to take her to a vet for an evaluation. Hello. A mass as you are describing could be from a bug bite, and if so the swelling should go away in about 48 hours. If the swelling continues past that time then I would be worried about an abscess/cyst/tumor. If it isn't painful or bothering her, and it continues to get smaller then you can monitor it, however if it doesn't go away, gets bigger, gets hard, or becomes painful, then I would recommend you have it seen and tested with a "Fine needle aspirate".
