My dog's raw face is scabbing. How to help it heal and regrow hair?

You will need to wait until the wound heals properly. You can put cod liver oil ointment, or Vitamin E ointment on the CLEAN wound area in order to help the skin regenerate. As for hair growth, time will tell, if there is any growth at all (it is possible that this will never grow back). You can feed Vitamin H (Biotin) to help with hair growth. This will also help with hoof quality.

Hello, I am so glad that you rescued this pup as it does look like an incredibly cruel person did this to him. With time, the hair should come back, but you can gently rub a little vitamin E oil & a little aloe vera onto the skin to help. There is no promises that this will help, but hopefully you will start seeing some hairs coming back soon. They may be white, too, & not necessarily black hairs because of the damage that could have been done to the hair follicles. Poor Mushu! Given that a scab has formed over this sore, it is healing and I would keep monitor it for now. Once the skin underneath is fully healed, the scab will fall off. I'd leave the scab alone and not rub at it. If you remove the scab, you will be disturbing the healing process and it will take longer to heal. Should the scab still be there in a few weeks, then I would be concerned and have Mushu seen by a vet.

Ouch, poor Dax. I would gently clean this with warm water and antiseptic soap. To keep him from scratching at it, you can put an Ecollar on him. You can get one at a pet store or make one at home. Keep the wound clean and dry, and monitor it for signs of infection. If you see redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, or pus, then it is infected and he will need to see the vet for antibiotics to treat it. I hope this helps!

It will eventually fall off and the hair grow back if this was just a simple infection. Hair regrowth is different in pace with each different dog, it may be very fast or very slow, it is totally random and unpredictable. i would not recommend putting anything topical on the area, just brush the hair around the hotspot to promote blood flow it may help making it grow faster.

What you are describing sounds like scar tissue, but I would have to see it to be sure. Scars will not grow hair, but tend to get smaller and less visible with time. Puppies will heal better than adult dogs, so the scar should be much less obvious within a couple of months. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to encourage hair growth in this area if it is a scar. It's also possible that the lump is due to a deep infection. If the lump grows, appears red, or starts to ooze fluid, then it's best to take her to the vet for an exam. I hope that helps and all is well with your pup.
