My dog has a mouth scar. How can I help his fur grow back?

You will need to wait until the wound heals properly. You can put cod liver oil ointment, or Vitamin E ointment on the CLEAN wound area in order to help the skin regenerate. As for hair growth, time will tell, if there is any growth at all (it is possible that this will never grow back). You can feed Vitamin H (Biotin) to help with hair growth. This will also help with hoof quality.

It sounds like Max's face is already healing if there is a scab, so I don't recommend putting anything on it. It's likely that he will try to lick any cream off with his tongue, and many OTC creams contain ingredients that are not safe for a dog to ingest. The best thing to do to help it heal quickly is not touch it or remove the scab. It can take a while for his fur to grow back, but there's nothing you can do to make it grow faster. Unfortunately there isn't anything that can help the fur to regrow. You can try some omega 3 fatty acids or fish oil. If the hairloss hasn't been seen by a vet recently I would have your vet take a look at it to ensure it isn't a thyroid problem or something else. If it is truly just due to the injury, you can put some baby sunscreen on her to prevent any burns if she has light colored skin. Most dark colored skin will not burn. I hope this helps!

I would recommend having him seen by a vet, however, as he could have suffered internal injuries from the fight and he should be checked out by a vet to make sure he is ok.

What you are describing sounds like scar tissue, but I would have to see it to be sure. Scars will not grow hair, but tend to get smaller and less visible with time. Puppies will heal better than adult dogs, so the scar should be much less obvious within a couple of months. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to encourage hair growth in this area if it is a scar. It's also possible that the lump is due to a deep infection. Oh no. Poor guy. It sounds like the hair follicles are in permanent resting phase after the shave. The only thing you can really try here would be Melatonin. It can take up to 3 months however, to see any growth after starting this supplement. Talk to your vet about proper dosing for Lily since we legally cannot tell you that information here, but it is worth a shot. I would also bathe LIly regularly and brush the area with a soft brush often to hopefully stimulate the hair follicles to regrow. I hope that Lily gets her beautiful coat back. Congratulations on brining Arrow into your family. I assume you guys are treating/have treated the heartworms. These are serious parasites and are fatal if not treated. Those lesions could be a few things (mites, bacteria infection) etc but hey also look a lot like scar tissue from the photos. If it is scar tissue, the hair may never regrow. The best thing that you can do for Arrow is to feed him a diet that is good for the skin. I recommend a food called Royal Canin. Pets that are on this diet typically have very good hair and skin quality. An additional omega fatty acid supplement for dogs can also help.
