Should I be concerned about bumps on my 4-month-old Maltese puppy?

Hello, thank you for your question about Wallace. Based on the photo that you've attached and your description of the lesion I would not be overly concerned about this. It is possible that it is a cyst or a build of debris within the hair follicle/sweat gland. If it continues to get bigger, it develops a colored/odorous discharge, or Wallace begins to itch at the area it is possible that it could be infected. If this happens I would recommend having Wallace seen by your veterinarian. Hope this helps!

The good news is that those bumps or lumps are not an emergency situation right now. as long as your dog is eating and drinking completely normal, I would just simply alert the owner of the dog of these bumps. tell them that this could be possible dermatitis or growths that need to be checked by better near in as soon as they have time. I would urge them to not wait longer than one week after the owner gets home to take them to the vet for a complete dermatological examination. Thanks a lot for your question. Thanks for the image. That could be an area of trauma or irritation. It may also be some localized infection (bacterial or fungal) or maybe a papillomatous growth (wart). If he is licking or chewing at the area, place an e-collar (cone) on him and schedule an exam with your veterinarian. If the spot is not bothering him and he is behaving normally otherwise, you can choose to monitor it at home for rapid change or growth, bleeding, discharge or discomfort. Should any of these symptoms develop, an exam with your veterinarian would be required to definitively diagnose the underlying cause. Any treatment will depend on the diagnosis.

Hi there and thank you for posting this question. Pimple type growths can be a sign of a skin infection, mites, or even a tick bite reaction. If there is just one area and it improves daily then it is unlikely to be problematic. However, if you are feeling multiple areas, if you see fleas or ticks, or if it is not resolving then I would become more concerned. Hi and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It is hard to see the photos but I am glad that WInston is not bothered by the bumps at all. They look very small and I would not be concerned at this time. They may be small bug bites, an allergic reaction to something, or something else. If they get bigger, become red or have any discharge or if they become bothersome to Winston, I would get them checked out by a veterinarian. For now, I would just continue to monitor them as long as Winston is comfortable!

Thank you for the image. This is likely a benign skin mass known as a sebaceous adenoma. They are common in older dogs and arise from sebaceous glands in the skin. You would need to have your dog physically examined by your veterinarian for confirmation. Removal is recommended if the lump grows larger or becomes ulcerated, but others may grow in the same spot or different areas. Keep it clean and dry and be careful not to irritate it during grooming/brushing or bathing.

However, from the sounds of it, it does not sound as though it is a cancerous mass based on your description.
