What are these red bumps on my puppy's inner thigh? Should I worry?

These lumps are not typical of a flea allergy dermatitis. That typically is just a superficial rash with itching, hair loss, scabs, etc. These lumps are concerning. Your pet may have developed abscesses which are deeper infections that form pockets of pus or infectious fluid. This is worth a trip to the vet for a recheck. I do not feel that it is a life threatening emergency, but it should be addressed by your veterinarian as soon as regular business hours resume. Your pet may need prescription antibiotics, the lumps may need to be aspirated or checked with a needle and if they are full of pus, they should be drained. Hi there. Bumps like the one on Bear could be a few different things. Sometimes there can be a thorn or something else stuck beneath the skin causing the bump. It could also be a skin growth, examples of these are things like epitheliomas, mast cell tumors and lipomas. Because it's red and is causing him some irritation, I would recommend having your veterinarian check the bump. They may suggest doing a fine needle aspirate of the bump, which collects cells from within the bump to help diagnose what it is. It's not an emergency, but I would have it checked when you can. It is hard to tell from this photo but look closely where the lump meets the skin to be sure this isn't a tick attacked to the skin and full (they can fill and become paler/flesh colored). Look for tiny legs or a small head embedded in the skin. If that is not the case it may be a small skin tag. I would have your vet take a look st your dog's next puppy vaccine appointment (at this age he should be seen every 3-4 weeks). If the area becomes irritated or increased in size before then, a vet exam is needed.

Thanks for the image. That could be an area of trauma or irritation. It may also be some localized infection (bacterial or fungal) or maybe a papillomatous growth (wart). If he is licking or chewing at the area, place an e-collar (cone) on him and schedule an exam with your veterinarian. If the spot is not bothering him and he is behaving normally otherwise, you can choose to monitor it at home for rapid change or growth, bleeding, discharge or discomfort. Should any of these symptoms develop, an exam with your veterinarian would be required to definitively diagnose the underlying cause. Any treatment will depend on the diagnosis.

From the picture, it looks as though Ruby may have some pustules on her abdomen. These most commonly occur as a sign of a bacterial skin infection, which could occur secondary to excessive licking or chewing, allergies (although this would be highly unusual in such a young pup), or other issues. I do recommend taking Ruby to her vet for an exam, but this is not an emergency that necessarily needs to be treated this weekend. I hope this helps and that all goes well for Ruby!

This signs could be compatible with a focal skin infection (bacterial folliculitis). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection can eventually be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths.
