Are claims about this dog product causing liver issues or cancer true?

Hello. This is a very difficult question because, in overage amounts, anything can potentially cause cancer. Think coffee, wine & even too much charcoal grilled meats. If there was something overtly dangerous in pet food, owners, veterinarians & the food manufacturers would be screaming to have it removed. There was some talk awhile back about the tin being used in canned foods causing a problem, especially the ones with a pop top, but that has been addressed by applying some coating to the can's interiors. Could something be discovered in the future? Probably. In the meantime, you could supplement your pet's diet with fresh meats & vegetables, but it is very difficult to provide complete nutrition this way. The way I look at it, our pets are living longer & healthier lives & we have a fantastic selection of foods to feed them. From my research, Noni appears to be safe but it is a natural supplement with not much research behind it. With that said, as with any natural supplement, I always caution against using these products. As long as you feed a well balanced commercial diet, you do not need to add in additional supplementation unless there is a problem. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. As grapes and raisins are toxic to most dogs, and a cause has not been established yet, I would not give anything with grape ingredients. So personally I would not recommend this gel. If you want to give your dog a treat, boiled carrot pieces, green beans are great and healthy, and and if you want to give a commercial dental treat, Greenies are recommended.

Processed food like canned liver should be avoided in dogs. It can have a high salt content and be very fatty which can cause gastrointestinal problems. If you want to give your dog a special treat, try something like freshly prepared meat, like chicken, in small amounts to prevent and stomach upset. I hope this helps. However, I don't recommend giving supplements such as this without being directed by a vet. The most important way to support Bruno's organ function is with a good high quality food, and good preventative care (disease prevention through vaccination, parasite control, etc). Milk thistle is a great liver support, but the other ingredients have limited data in dogs and, while probably safe, I would not recommend them.

Again, there is no known problem with these ingredients. The stigma about byproducts is especially annoying, because byproducts like liver, kidney and other organs have great nutritional value compared with meat. The reason behind the stigma is not easy to understand. It really has to do with a series of non- professionals speculating on unsupported theories and then spreading the information as if it's truth. The same happens with people...just look at all the fad diets that come and go. While there may be some shred of evidence that these ingredients may have potential to cause harm, there is not nearly enough for a professional to say that they are bad and other ingredients are good. You can see that the pet food industry has responded to the unsupported claims of grains, natural ingredients, byproducts and even raw food, but please don't take that as confirmation that these ingredients are bad or good. It's nothing more than sales strategy and responding to consumer demands. I could not find any research paper linking Revolution to causing any cancer. As a matter of fact, Selamectin (the active ingredient of Revolution) seems to have a beneficial effect in the treatment of triple-negative breast cancer in humans.
