Is noni juice safe for my dog's liver and kidneys if given regularly?

However, I don't recommend giving supplements such as this without being directed by a vet. The most important way to support Bruno's organ function is with a good high quality food, and good preventative care (disease prevention through vaccination, parasite control, etc). Milk thistle is a great liver support, but the other ingredients have limited data in dogs and, while probably safe, I would not recommend them.

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. I am sorry to see that Boomer is in renal failure. What I typically recommend for renal failure in dogs are the following products: 1. Rehmannia 8 liquid or tablets 2. Epakitin (to help bind excessive phosphorus) 3. Renal support by Standard Process 4. Azodyl probiotic capsules (if you are not already giving these) 5. Prescription kidney diet such as Hills K/D 6. Renal K+ 7. Anti-nausea medications (Cerenia / Zofran) Some of these are more natural products and obviously the anti-nausea medications are prescription drugs but can help keep Boomer more comfortable. I also managed a kidney failure patient who also had lymphoma with all of the above including subcutaneous fluids and also treating him twice weekly in a hyperbaric chamber. His original prognosis was 3 months and that prognosis was given 15 months ago. If you have someone in your area that has a hyperbaric chamber, you can speak with them about treating Boomer with it. This medication has a wide range of use in the literature, and vets will choose the appropriate dose for the patient and the infection they are treating. Dogs do not necessarily metabolize medications the same way people do - so often require different strength or frequency in their dosing compared to the human dose. Terbinafine is generally well tolerated by dogs, so I would not recommend adding any additional tonics or medications unless your vet guides you on this. The best way you can help support Danny's kidneys is to simply provide clean safe drinking water available at all times. If you are concerned, you might ask your vet to run some baseline bloodwork on Danny to ensure his organs are functioning properly, and you could repeat this bloodwork after his course of medication. This should provide peace of mind to make sure Danny is tolerating his medication! Hope this helps!

Essential Fatty Acids are always a good idea in my opinion since they are part of every living cell of the body and they are anti inflammatory. I don't know of any diseases where fish oil is not recommended. One thing you want to be careful of is the quality of the oil and whether contaminants (mercury, etc) are present. Supplements are not regulated (in the United States) so the quality varies significantly. I would choose my source of fish oil carefully and follow the directions based on body weight. Hello. This is a common anti-anxiety medication for both dogs & cats & it does seem to be quite safe when used within the parameters of its suggested use. As with any long-term medication, regular veterinary visits with blood work to follow liver & kidney values are necessary & required. If at any time, there are elevations of the liver/kidney enzymes or concerns, then one will need to re-evaluate the need for the medication or the risk vs benefits of continuing the medication.
