Why does my dog poop so much for treats? Is her health at risk?

Some treats can be very rich and that could cause vomiting or diarrhea. It all depends on what type of treats they are. If they are an easy to digest treat, likely you will not see any negative effects. Bag sizes can vary greatly. If it was a large volume of treats that she ate, you should cut down her dinner to correlate to the volume eaten. Meaning if she normally eats two cups of dog food and you estimate she ate about 2 cups worth of treats, you may skip giving her dinner. If she ate a very large volume of treats, that can cause significant bloating to the stomach and significant G.I. distress. Monitor her very closely for abnormal behavior or discomfort. If this is noted she should see the veterinarian. A small amount of paper is not likely to cause an intestinal obstruction but you should watch her closely for the next 48 hours for any signs of complications. Soft stools could be from the soft foods- they contain more water- but if the stools are more like diarrhea, I would recommend looking into the cause. There could be a medical reason for diarrhea, like parasites or a digestive issue that needs to be addressed. If he used to eat hard food and now only eats soft I would recommend having a vet look at his teeth to make sure there isn’t something painful going on that’s causing the diet change. Hello. Probably not. Exercise can & will facilitate bowel movements, & the faster stool moves through the bowels, the less water is absorbed making the stools a little softer. This may be just normal for your pup. If anything changes, of course discuss this with your veterinarian, but if everything else is OK, I would not be too worried. This sounds like she is constipated. When the poop is very large or firm it can irritate the recal lining causing a small amount of blood on the poop. I would stop the new treats just in case, and add a tablespoon of plain canned pumpkin to each feeding to increase the fiber in her diet and make the stool softer so it will pass more easily, If she isn’t able go poop then she may need an enema at your veterinarian’s office. She is a larger dog, so she will likely be OK. I would monitor her closely for any gastrointestinal upset such as vomiting or diarrhea. Acute intake of fatty foods can cause acute pancreatitis in dogs, which can range from an easy fix to a multi-day hospitalization with potential for life-threatening complications. If Xena becomes inappetant, has episodes of vomiting or diarrhea, or simply isn't acting herself, I recommend having her evaluated by a veterinarian. It likely is his diet. A lot of the holistic or grain free diets can cause excessive stool production. It isn't something that is a medical concern however, especially i the stools are normal consistency. Perhaps you can let him stay outside for a longer period of time so that he is allowed to completely empty his colon before coming back in. Otherwise, just keep an eye on Asian and I hope that he continues to do well. If his stools do change in consistency or have visible worms, then its best to take him to your vet for treatment. If he hasn't vomited by now, he likely won't vomit at all. Mild upset can usually be[ treated at home](https://www.petcoach.co/article/how-to-treat-your-dogs-upset-stomach) with a short fast followed by a bland diet fed in small, frequent amounts until symptoms resolve. He may also become constipated from all the treats, so if he hasn't pooped in more than 12 hours, try adding some plain canned pumpkin (**NOT pumpkin pie filling**) to his food and increase exercise. Both may stimulate defecation. Make sure he has plenty of fresh water as well. If he doesn't defecate for more than 24 hours, have him physically examined by your veterinarian.
