Why is my dog pooping red spots and smelling so bad? Is it serious?

It sounds as Tiny is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. if the vet thinks it is more serious she will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

It could be that Tinker has diarrhea with blood in it from eating something rotten, a foreign body, parvovirus if he isn't fully vaccinated, intestinal worms, or hemorrhagic gastroenteritis among other causes. When a dog has diarrhea for over 24 hours and when there is blood present in it, it's time to see a vet. This is nothing something that should be treated at home because there can be serious and potentially deadly causes to it. I would take Tinker into a vet as soon as possible. Best of luck.

Oh no. I would take him to a vet as soon as possible and have him checked for intestinal parasites and parvovirus. Either one could be the cause of his bloody discharge and need to be identified quickly so that he can start treatment right away. Howver, you can offer Pedialyte non-flavored to help keep him from getting too dehydrated. It is unfortunate that a pet you just adopted is ill; however, you can't help Shiner on your own and you should allow your veterinarian to care for him and his illness from here moving forward. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Miki! Blood in the diarrhea indicates inflammation with in the colon. It isn't uncommon for a dog with severe diarrhea or diarrhea for a few days to develop blood in the stool. The blood can cause significant dehydration so it is important to make sure he isn't very lethargic and it drinking. If the diarrhea is severe (accidents in the house, can't hold it and asking to go out often) then I recommend fasting him for 12-24 hours. Do not limit water. This will allow his GI tract to calm down. Then restart feeding with a bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger with rice. Feed 1 cup per 20 lbs per day. If he is very lethargic, starts vomiting and will not eat or drink he should be seen by a Vet today. Otherwise you can do the above and have him seen, if needed, by your Vet when they open. I don't think this could be related to the beef she was given as that was 2 weeks ago and would be atypical anyways. I would advise that if this continues, worsens, or other signs develop, you should take Happy to your veterinarian to have her evaluated. Your vet can gather a detailed history and perform a thorough examination. From those, a diagnostic/treatment plan can be developed and started. Possible problems include intestinal parasites, gastrointestinal ulcer, toxin exposure, infection, inflammation, foreign body ingestion, nutritional problems, among many other things. Your vet may advise fecal/blood/urine tests and some imaging studies (x-rays, ultrasound) to get started. Once the cause is determined or suspected a treatment plan can be started. Treatment could include fluids, electrolytes, acid blockers, gastrointestinal protectants, deworming, antibiotics, medicines for diarrhea, etc. Good luck with Happy.
