My dog is pooping blood. What should I do and is it an emergency?

Poor Jack! It's quite serious that he has bloody poop, which can be caused by a foreign body, trauma to the intestinal tract, intestinal worms, hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, and possibly GI tumors. Jack has to see a vet immediately, so I would take him into one now. If you don't want to assume financial responsibly for him, I would call the SPCA to come and get him. They can get him the medical treatment he needs, and can find him a home.

Jacky should see a veterinarian right away as he likely needs prescription medication to stop the vomiting and diarrhea. He may need fluids to help rehydrate him. It may also be a good idea to have X-rays done to ensure there is no intestinal blockage. Once he has received medical care a bland diet of boiled chicken and sweet potato or rice may also help him recover. It is very common to see small specks or streaks of blood in diarrhea - but it is more concerning in cases like this where the dog appears to be passing more blood than stool. This can be a sign of HGE or Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis, which can be a dangerous condition and warrants an immediate trip to the vet. Your vet will probably want to look at a fecal sample to check for intestinal parasites, and will likely recommend bloodwork (particularly a CBC) to look for evidence of anemia or the changes characteristic of HGE. Depending on Honey's overall attitude, exam findings, and labwork findings, they may be able to manage her as an outpatient with medication to control the diarrhea (and likely fluids to help with dehydration), or they may recommend she be hospitalized for IV fluids and injectable medications. Regardless, I definitely recommend having her seen sooner than later. Hopefully this is just a worse-than-usual diarrhea, but it's worth playing it safe if it might be HGE. Regardless of the cause, this is a very concerning sign because it can rapidly lead to blood loss and dehydration. Chaquita needs to be taken to an ER vet immediately for an exam, lab testing (CBC, chemistry, coagulation panel), and supportive care (IV fluids, etc.).

It sounds as Cooper is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an antibiotic course and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

No, this isn't normal and can be a sign of problem such as irritation of the GI tract, anal sac infection, or a foreign body. I'd take Charlie Boy into a vet today to get this checked out since it's been going on for a week now.
