My dog's poop is balls with mucus and stomach hard. Is it serious?

Hello, sorry to hear about Bailee. When pets are having abnormal GI signs such as vomiting, diarrhea, and a decreased appetite then we can see different changes in coloration of their stool. You should continue to monitor these changes for worsening bowel movements or diarrhea, loss of appetite and vomiting. Hi there. Diarrhea can be caused by a multitude of things. Increased mucous makes me suspicious of parasites first. I would recommend taking your pup in to have a fecal. Based on the findings of this, you can choose how best to proceed after this easy step is ruled out. It may also be that Pandora has an upset stomach due to something she's eaten and has thrown her digestive system off. Think about if you have changed her food or given her anything she does not normally get. Hope this helps.

That is good that you actually took photos! It’s so much easier to see the stool than to get a verbal description. Loose stool can be a sign of many conditions and if you are seeing frequent signs of it, it could indicate parasites, inflammatory bowel disease, bacterial over growth or just dietary intolerance. At 2 years old, Harley is not likely to have other conditions that can cause frequent soft stools like liver or kidney disease, or lymphoma but it is possible. Take a look around her environment and see if there’s anything she could’ve gotten into in the house or the yard. Dogs will often eat things that upset their stomach’s like dead earthworms or garbage. I recommend to call your veterinarian and let them know what is happening. They may ask to see Harley earlier or they may post pone her vaccines. If Harley is acting completely normal, is not having any vomiting and has a normal appetite, this could just be a passing thing. Go ahead and switch her to a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (25%) and boiled plain white rice (75%). It will measure out cup for cup of just like her dog food. Feed her this for 24 hours and if things are looking better wean her back to her regular food over a couple days. if Harley is showing signs of illness, then I would recommend to have her seen today if possible. I recommend that she sees her veterinarian to determine the cause of her symptoms. Her hindlimbs and lower back should also be assessed. It is unusual for a dog to be hesitant on stairs simply due to diarrhea. I hope this information helps!

I would have Abby seen by a vet for this bulge which could be a mass. Unfortunately in senior dogs, there is always a chance a mass could be malignant. It could be compressing her intestines and colon leading to small amounts of poop being passed. Any suspicious masses should be examined by the vet. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the mass to get a sample of it's cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. I would have Abby seen by a vet first thing on Monday to have this mass examined and diagnosed so it can be treated.

I'm sorry to hear that Stinky isn't feeling well. I can't tell if the soft stool are vomiting are common for her or a new thing. If long term (more than a month), it could be caused by intestinal parasites, food intolerance or allergy, or less likely an endocrine issue. If it's a sudden change, she could have caused an acute entrogastritis by eating something different/bad, could have an infection, or many other causes. If she's eating well and energetic, it's not generally an emergency and you can wait to see if she gets better with time. A daily probiotic can help (anything you find at a store is fine, or you can buy Fortiflora on Amazon). If the vomiting has been going on for more than a few days, or is frequent (more than a couple times a day) I would recommend a vet visit when possible
