Why is my dog pooping hard balls inside after moving or new food?

A hard stomach and abnormal feces are usually both a sign of a gastrointestinal problem, unfortunately there are many condition in the GI tract that could cause these symptoms, you should take her to the vet ASAP in order to get that checked.

There can be many different reasons for dogs to poop inside a house. If they are older they can have arthritis and not fully empty outside so when they come in they can feel the need to go. They can have diarrhea from stress, intestinal parasites, eating something they were not supposed to or even a virus. It can be a behavioral issue that something cahnged they are not fond of and they can start with this. I would recommend bringing her to the veterinarian just so they can make sure it is nothing medical prior to saying it is from moving into the new house. Poor pup! If his stool seems too hard, you could try mixing a spoonful of canned pumpkin into his food at every meal to see if this helps. Switching from dry to canned food may also be helpful, since canned food has a higher moisture content and usually results in softer stools.

Hello, sorry to hear about Bailee. When pets are having abnormal GI signs such as vomiting, diarrhea, and a decreased appetite then we can see different changes in coloration of their stool. You should continue to monitor these changes for worsening bowel movements or diarrhea, loss of appetite and vomiting. Other times, the pet has severe arthritis and it is painful to assume the position for defecation. This leads the pet to either avoid defecating outside or not going the full amount. Thanks for more information! I can see how this is frustrating to you. Ha ha cat food is quite tasty to dogs, it's higher in fat due to the fact cats are obligate carnivores. The problem with her pooing in the house could be medical or behavioral. The first step is to have her see a vet to rule out any medical issues. If none are found, the vet can discuss behavioral steps to take with her to stop this problem. Have her seen by a vet on Monday. When dogs are picky, sometimes you have to get tough with them. Put her food down in the morning and leave it for 15-20 minutes. After that time, pick it up even if she hasn't eaten. This next part is very important: do NOT give her any food until dinner time. No human food, treats, and put the cat food up where she can't get it. At dinner time, put her food down for the 15-20 minutes, again taking it away after that time. No more food until breakfast. This is teaching her she has to eat when given food, or she gets nothing else. She will get hungry enough to eat. I hope this helps!

Your dog may have diarrhea or constipation issues. You can try a high fiber diet like Hills I/d for a few days and see if this clears up the issues, or add canned pumpkin to her food.
