My spayed dog has pink urine. Could it be a UTI or other issue?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Brooke. I recommend that she sees her veterinarian. A urinalysis will be performed to look for evidence of a urinary tract infection. This is most likely. If she had started her heat cycle before her spay, you could also see residual blood. Rarely, a bleeding disorder could be present or a complication from the surgery. Make sure she is going regularly and not having to hold it too long and that she is getting plenty of fluids. The discoloration and increase in frequency can be signs of a urinary infection. Since everything else is normal, you do not need to get her seen as an emergency tonight, but do recommend a urine sample at your vet as this can make house training more difficult and be uncomfortable for her if left untreated.

If this was a one time incident and there are no other symptoms to speak of (i.e. straining to urinate, increased urination or drinking), then I would continue to just monitor Shadow. However, if you are seeing other symptoms, then its best to have him checked to ensure there are no urinary issues such as urinary stones, a UTI, or urinary bladder masses. It is not normal for blood to be present in a dog's urine, although it is possible to get a false positive on a urine dipstick. I would recommend having a veterinarian perform a microscopic examination of a urine sample. A urinary tract infection would be the most common cause of blood in the urine of a young dog.

Poor Kai! There could be a urine infection or crystals in the urine. Certain toxins can also cause this as well. I recommend to have him examined by the Veterinarian today. You should call the vet and give him/her an update so they know what is going on with your dog. Your vet may want to see her or just ask you to bring in a urine sample to check for an infection. If she has a urinary tract infection, your vet may prescribe an antibiotic, unless she is already on an antibiotic post-spay.

Congrats on adding Bella to your family! First I would recommend to take Bella to the vet to have her urine checked for infection. This is a very common reason for blood in the urine.
