My dog has pink pimples. Is it poison ivy or a reaction from sanding?

Yes it could be poison ivy, but that doesn't affect dogs as much as it does humans. I'm wondering if Jax has puppy pyoderma, a skin infection that occurs in puppies due to their sensitive skin. I'd have him seen by a vet in the morning to have this diagnosed and treated. Best of luck.

I am not sure where this cluster of pimples is, but if it is on the chin this could be chin acne. This could also be a skin allergic dermatitis to some type of allergen (chemical or environmental). The almost clear contents inside mixed with blood is probably a folliculitis (inflamed hair follicles) which typically requires antibiotics and medicated cleansers to flush out the follicles. If you canno get to your vet right away for treatment, you can try gently cleansing the area with an antiseptic like Betadine diluted 50:50 with warm water or Chlorhexidine 3% diluted as instructed on the bottle (preferred)- available at most Walmart's, to see if this calms things down a bit. Any further treatment depends on the location of the rash and getting your vet involved may be best for Abbie, because he/she can thoroughly examine the area and get her on stronger medications to resolve the skin.

It looks as if your dog has a skin infection, most commonly caused by an allergy, a skin mite (Demodex) or fleas. 

The allergy could be a due to a protein in your dog’s food or an environmental allergy like to dust, pollens, grasses, etc. 

The allergy causes your dog to itch and chew at the skin which breaks down the skin barrier. This then leads to infection. Skin infections are typically characterized by large areas of hair loss, redness, crusting, flaking, and pustules. A thorough skin examination by your veterinarian should be able to determine the cause of the infection and itch so it can be treated appropriately. Because your puppy is so young I would be very concerned about Demodex as the primary problem. Your dog will most likely need antibiotics to help clear up the infection and possibly an allergy/anti-itch medication like Apoquel, Atopica, or Cytopoint to give some relief while the infection clears up. A medicated shampoo may be beneficial as well (based on the type of infection your veterinarian can recommend the most appropriate one). I would also recommend that he be on a good flea control routinely too. The thyroid gland is located in the throat area but it is probably not what you were feeling. I suspect you may be feeling a large lymph node or just severely inflamed skin tissue judging by the severity of his infection. I hope this helps. Hello there. Penny may have a skin infection. I recommend bathing her in an antibiotic and antifungal shampoo. I also recommend taking her to the veterinarian to help determine the cause of the pimples, which could be from allergies, scratches, bug bites, etc.

Those look like they could be some sort of allergic reaction ongoing, and if it is spreading it would be best to have a sample taken from a vet so that it could be sent to a lab for testing if the cause isn't apparent upon examination and to rule out issues such as growths, tumors, metabolic illnesses, etc. Keeping the area clean and dry and placing an Elizabethan (cone) collar on Rose may also help reduce additional irritation. If Rose is aggressive or uncomfortable at the vet, you may also want to see if your vet can either prescribe a sedative to give prior to arriving which may make things a little less stressful for her, or see if housecall services are an option on your area. Sometimes, just being at home can help a dog stay more calm and less stressed out while receiving veterinary care.

If the bumps developed after you bathed Ivy, she certainly could be having an allergic reaction to the shampoo, but if the rash was already there, she might be having an allergic reaction to something else or may even have a skin infection.
