Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund miniature | Female | spayed | 6 years and 3 months old | 11 lbs

My dog is a outside mostly dog, in Houston texas. She has some skin irritation on her neck and sides. The hair is already thin and it is balding in some places. She also has a lot of little bumps on her skin a lover her body. I am needing suggestions to help her.

It looks like your dog has a skin infection, most likely caused by allergies or fleas. The allergies can be from something in her food or to something in the environment, like grasses, pollens, etc. I would recommend taking Pippa in to see the vet so she can be started on some antibiotics to help clear up her skin. I would also recommend discussing with your vet some options for medication to help control her allergies like Atopica, Apoquel, or Cytopoint.
