My dog has a pink lump under her snout. Is it a blister or tumor?

Hello there! This is most likely a benign lump called a histiocytoma, which is a common condition that shows up on the face and paws in young dogs. This can only be confirmed by a veterinarian, by considering the size, shape, location, and the age of your dog, it's the most likely cause. I recommend a visit to your vet so that they may offer a definitive diagnosis. They will give Nikki a full exam, and most likely they will obtain a small sample of the cells inside the mass with a small needle. This is called a fine needle aspirate, or FNA. These cells will be examined under a microscope so that the vet can rule out other, more dangerous tumors. Histiocytomas most often spontaneously resolve on their own, but it can take weeks or months to go away completely. Some owners prefer to have them surgically removed, which is usually curative. If Nikki starts scratching at the lump, or if it becomes irritated or starts oozing, a visit to the vet is definitely in order as it could cause an infection. Yes, this could be a histiocytoma but it is very hard to say for sure. Many masses can look the same to the naked eye. Histiocytomas are more likely to occur in younger dogs; since he is older I would a bit more concerned. I suggest you leave it alone for now and just monitor it. If it is a histiocytoma it should go away on it's own. If it does not go away in about 6-8 weeks OR it starts to bother him or get larger, then have your vet check it by doing a fine needle aspirate (they will get some cells with a needle and look at them under the microscope to see what this is). I would not be concerned about this. It looks to be either a papilloma wart or a histiocytoma (benign tumor) both of which are common in young dogs. Usually these things will go away on their own within 4 to 8 weeks. If it gets larger in that a time frame or by 8 weeks it has not gone away then he should see your vet. Hope this helps. Any lesion/mass or blister on the nose that does not go away on its own within 1-2 weeks time should be looked at by your vet and samples taken of it to aid in identification of the mass. In general masses on the nose can either be an inflammatory reaction (granuloma), benign or malignant tumors. Lets hope that Kane's mass isn't something to be worried about.

I’m not sure if there was supposed to be a photograph attached to your post, but that would be helpful. Red raised masses can be something like infection or an ingrown hair. They can also be more indicative of a skin tumor. Of the skin tumors, most are benign but there is one called a mast cell tumor which is cancerous and needs to be removed quickly. When in doubt, I always recommend to have any type of skin mass examined by the veterinarian. Sometimes they can tell what it is based on exam. But just like with humans, not all skin tumors can be identified just by looking. The doctor may need to aspirate some of the cells to look under the microscope. That is the only way to accurately know what kind of tumor it is. I always recommend to play it safe with something like this! From the picture it actually looks more like a deep skin infection to me. This could be bacterial or fungal, or even a hypersensitivity reaction (less likely). I would recommend that she be examined by your veterinarian soon. They may look at a sample under the microscope to help determine what therapies might be most helpful. This may be an abscess, a cyst or a tumor. You should have it examined by your veterinarian, as it is not possible to distinguish these by just looking at a photo. An abscess can usually be treated with antibiotics and/or be lanced, and a cyst can be evacuated. To identify a tumor, your vet may want to do a fine needle aspirate (he takes some material from the bump with a needle and then looks at it under the microscope) to determine whether the mass is concerning.
