Why is my 10-month Golden peeing inside during her first heat?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If she is dripping urine or straining to urinate then I would worry about a urinary tract infection or crystals in the urine. I would try to collect a urine sample and bring it with you for an appointment with your Vet. If she has an infection they can provide her with antibiotics. When dogs are in heat they sometimes act lethargic. She is a bit young to have an infected uterus as they do drink and urinate more. It is best to have her examined. I wish you the best!

While it is normal (although frustrating) to have “good” days and “bad” days while house training a puppy, the episodes you describe may be an indication of something more serious, such as a UTI. This is definitely possible if Phoebe is straining to urinate, urinating small amounts, or has reddish colored urine and if you notice her licking her vagina more frequently. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Puppies do urinate more frequently than adults. If this is a change in urination than it is not normal. If she is having small frequent accidents in the house and going frequently outside with straining and small amount that is not normal. If it is larger amounts in the house if could be a lapse in house training. If the above applies of increased frequency, urgency and straining Gracy may have a UTI. I recommend having her seen by your Vet and bringing a urine sample to have it checked for bacteria. We treat UTIs with antibiotics. I hope this helps and I wish Gracy a speedy recovery!

Occasionally dogs will have various unusual behaviors during a heat cycle, and it's possible that this is the cause. Inappropriate urination can also be a sign of a urinary tract infection so you may want to have Zoey examined by your vet to make sure there is nothing more serious going on.

I recommend calling your veterinarian in the morning and scheduling an appointment to have her looked at. There could be a few different reasons for blood in the urine. She can have a urinary tract infection, bladder stones, a kidney issue or even a bladder mass. I would recommend bringing a urine sample to have them evaluate it and see if Trinity has a urinary tract infection. Most dogs will have their first heat around 6 months of age. Smaller breeds may go into heat sooner than large breeds. Aries may have a UTI (urinary tract infection). Symptoms include frequent urination, straining to urinate, foul smelling or bloody urine and a change in thirst or urination. You would need to have her physically examined by your veterinarian and submit a urine sample, for urinalysis and culture, to definitively diagnose a UTI.

Maisy may have a urinary tract infection or she may have a congenital defect with in her urinary system (ectopic ureter).
