I can’t tell exactly what this is with the picture alone but a draining wound on the foot warrants an examination by a veterinarian. It could be an infection/abscess and the location (being so close to the ground) can cause the wound to become dirty and soiled, making the infection worse. Or, there could be a mass present and if this is the case, it would need to be removed as soon as possible. Hello! That looks like some type of puncture wound on Lobo’s foot. Often this is due to stepping on/running into something sharp. Sometimes it can be related to a grass awning (called a foxtail) working its way into the skin. It can also represent a fungal infection or the emergence of a fly larvae. Lesions like this should generally be examined by the veterinarian since further treatment and antibiotics may be needed. I recommend to get Lobo into the veterinarian within the next few days. In the meantime, protect the area from licking bye have having him where an Elizabethan collar at all times. You can wash the area gently with soap and water and rental. It may be that the abscess is now developing underneath on the ventral area of the paw pads. This could be due to a foreign body reaction, commonly caused by a penetrating injury on the paw pad or in the interdigital space. Some pus could come out from the lump you are showing. Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking (if any).

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. Based on the pictures that you sent, what you are seeing appears to be what we call pododermatitis. Oftentimes we will see these swollen areas in between the toes on Bulldogs especially. Many times a topical ointment, anti-inflammatory and oral antibiotics are needed to treat this. I would suggest having a veterinarian examine this to see if it needs any antibiotics or not. If you are unable to get to your vet right away, I would suggest using zymox topical ointment and malacetic conditioning spray, both of which can be found online. I hope this helps! Hello, sorry to hear about Monster. That looks like fatty or necrotic tissue. It does not obviously look like anything foreign, but it may be necrotic tissue encapsulating a foreign object. Ideally, you should have monster seen by a veterinarian, because these type of draining tracts are commonly associated with some form of foreign object. Which if confirmed, would need to be removed to treat the infection. The peroxide and antibiotic ointment are likely treating the outside infection, but are not doing anything to treat whats within the pocket. Additionally, dogs will often require oral antibiotics to treat an infected draining tract. Hope this helps and best of luck.
