Why is my dog's paw oozing pus and he's not using his back leg?

If there is green pus coming from the paw this is an indication of infection that requires antibiotic therapy. I would stop using hydrogen peroxide as it isn't recommended for regular wound cleaning (can actually delay healing if used repeatedly). Clean the area with mild soap and dry well to avoid moisture, apply a topical antibiotic ointment, place an e-collar on your dog to prevent him licking the foot and make an appointment for your dog to see the vet. He likely will need oral antibiotic treatment and the vet will want to check his paw to be sure there isn't a foreign body like a splinter stuck there.

Poor guy. You can clean this area with Betadine diluted 50:50 with warm water for now. This will help reduce some of the bacteria and help with some of the irritation/redness. I would not recommend any topical ointments on this area however. However, organic honey can be placed in small amounts on wounds like this However, if there is pus as you say, the infection is dep under the skin and requires oral antibiotics to treat effectively. This could be due to an infection and possibly a foreign body reaction. A clinical examination at your local veterinarian is essential to confirm these clinical suspicions and treat appropriately. Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. Based on the pictures that you sent, what you are seeing appears to be what we call pododermatitis. Oftentimes we will see these swollen areas in between the toes on Bulldogs especially. Many times a topical ointment, anti-inflammatory and oral antibiotics are needed to treat this. I would suggest having a veterinarian examine this to see if it needs any antibiotics or not. If you are unable to get to your vet right away, I would suggest using zymox topical ointment and malacetic conditioning spray, both of which can be found online. I hope this helps! If they look like little pimples with white pus in them, this is usually a sign of a bacterial skin infection called pyoderma - this can occur on its own, or as a result of an underlying problem such as allergies or skin mites (mange). If they don't seem to be bothering her, you can try soaking the affected paws in warm water with epsom salts for 5 minutes twice a day - often, this will help to resolve a mild infection in this area. If this doesn't help, or if the bumps seem to be spreading or if they become itchy or painful, then I would recommend having G examined by a vet - he/she can prescribe antibiotics to treat the skin infection, and can also do some simple tests to try and determine if there is any underlying problem causing it.

Poor Rocky! He could have a foreign body in it such as a grass seed or foxtail, which would be hard to see or find. If there is pus present, then it is infected and he should see a vet first thing the morning. The infection will require oral antibiotics to treat it. Rest him tonight, and try soaking his paw in an Epsom salt bath to see if that gives him some temporary relief. I hope this helps!

This looks pretty infected already, i would recommend taking Rex to the vet, the area will need to be clipped, cleaned and he will need either a local antibiotic cream or systemic oral antibiotics in order to resolve this infection.
