My dog's paw injury not healing with home care. When to see vet?

This could be a small puncture wound or abrasion your dog got outside. If he is not licking it or limping on it, just keep it clean and dry and it should heal on its own within a few days. If however it seems to be bothering your dog or persists for more than about 3 days you should probably have it checked out. I hope this helps. Poor girl. You should try to dry this area well with Betadine diluted 50:50 with warm water first. And then you can try a hot spot spray from your local pet store. If this is just one area, then there was likely some kind of trauma to the skin. If there is no improvement with the area within 48 hrs or so, then it is best to get her seen for stronger medications/antibiotics. I hope that this helps and best wishes with Shiva's wound. It looks like Logan has a wound there! It could have been caused by trauma, or potentially an interdigital cyst that may have ruptured. If it's not healing on its own or he's licking at it a lot he may need to see a vet for antibiotics. In the meantime try to keep it clean and dry.

According to the photos it looks like a mild abrasion in the central pad that is healing. For now I would just monitor unless signs of infection (redness, pus, foul smell, pain) or if any lameness present then I would suggest to contact your vet.

It looks like she may have a small abrasion or had an insect bite and licked it. Keep an eye on it and make sure it stays clean and dry. If it does not improve over the net day or two or if it gets worse, get her in to see your vet.

This sounds like an infected interdigital cyst. These are common in dog’s paws. They usually need oral antibiotics to heal these infections, so I would take her in to your veterinarian for an exam and treatment. In the meantime you can soak the paw in an antibacterial solution, and use a cone to prevent her from licking the paw. Ouch, that's a big enough tear it should be seen by your vet. At the very least they can clip back the hair, thoroughly clean it, and then provide you with pain medications and antibiotics for Ave so it doesn't get infected. Until you can get into your vet, it is best to keep the foot clean and dry and to NOT let him lick it. Licking will introduce bacteria that will cause further inflammation and potential infection. You can use an Elizabethan (cone) collar to keep him from doing so. I would also limit all activity to leashed walks only for potty breaks to prevent him from putting more weight on the injured pad which can lead to more pain.
