My puppy's paw got into hot tea. Is it burned? What should I do?

Ouch! Running cold water on it was smart. Ideally, he should be seen by your vet since the burn looks like it goes through the pad. This could lead to infection. If this is not possible now, keep the area clean and dry. Use an e-collar (cone) on him to prevent licking. A dab of aloe vera gel can be applied a few times daily. Keep the e-collar on so he doesn't ingest the aloe vera. You may want to use shredded paper towels in the litterbox until the paw heals. Monitor for lameness, lethargy, swelling, discharge or odor. These are symptoms that should be addressed by your veterinarian.

Poor Lucky! Place the back of your hand on the pavement, and if you can't hold it there for five seconds, it's too hot to walk him. It does sound like he may have burned his paws on the walk, and I would limit his walking for now to allow his paws to heal. When you do walk him, do it on grassy surfaces. Keep him inside as much as possible. You might consider getting him doggie booties to protect his paws when walking. I'd leave his paws along for now, keep an eye on them. If he is not eating or wanting to drink, he may have sustained burns in his mouth and in that case, I would have him examined by a veterinarian. However, I'm sure he will be fine. Some symptoms of burn injuries include sensitivity of the area, limping, or ulceration of the skin. I would recommend continuing to monitor Sky for development of any of these symptoms. Additionally I would prevent Sky from licking the area as this may predispose it to an infection, you may need to use an ecollar or a sock over the affected paw. Hi, It sounds like Spot was lucky, as there is no limping or any lesions, so it is possible that it was very mild burn which generally limited to minor pain and in most cases also redness. Contact burns from hot surfaces are usually obvious from their onset but may take 1-2 days to fully appear in some cases. For now just monitor that she is not showing signs of discomfort and pain such as lameness or licking the paw and watch the the appearance of the paw for damage more than redness if any of these signs develop take her to your vet.

Cold water is the best remedy in the first couple hours, after that i recommend a special cream for burns with Silver sulfadiazine in it, you can usually get it from any pharmacy over the counter. if it becomes severe and very painful a vet visit will be require urgently.
