My dog has parvo and is eating. Is this a good sign for survival?

It sounds like he is doing very well soo far. His chances of survival are good/favorable. If he is eating and no vomiting, then he can likely come home now to continue his treatment with you as he continues to recover from parvo. These are very positive signs! When a dog survives the first four days of parvo, they have a very good chance of recovery. It may be a few weeks before Sammy is back to himself, but I think based on what you are telling us, those are good signs.

I’m so sorry to hear about Ganja! Parvo is a terrible disease. The good news is that if sounds like you and Ganja are pretty lucky. The at-home treatment has an estimated 80-85% survival rate anyways, and based on how you’re describing Ganja, I’m guessing she has an even better chance than that. Usually dogs start going “downhill” about day 2- 3, starts improving by day 4-5, and is basically out of the woods and almost 100% by day 7. The fact that she is eating and playing is an EXCELLENT sign. The other thing going for Ganja is her older age and bigger size. These guys tend to do better than the tiny young puppies. Keep giving the anti nausea medications and antibiotics as prescribed because keeping her eating and drinking is the best thing you can do. Hope this helps and best of luck to you and Ganja!

If she's stopped having diarrhea, this is a good sign. I hope that she has some medication on board for nausea and vomiting - if not, your vet should be able to prescribe some for you to give at home. Normally, with parvo, the best sign of recovery is when they have gone 24 hours without any vomiting and are eating on their own - until then, you need to continue treatment with fluids and other supportive care.

I'm so sorry Nala has parvo. It makes a puppy extremely ill, and I'm not surprised she hasn't eaten there. If the vet is giving her an IV, she may be getting nutrients from that. Check with the vet to see if that is what's happening. She is in the right place, and she has the best chance of survival there. I hope she makes it!

I'm sorry to hear that Cooper has parvo! You did the right thing by taking him to the vet as soon as you noticed a problem. I'm glad he's currently hospitalized for treatment. Parvo is a serious illness and there are no guarantees... but in general, older puppies like Cooper tend to fare better than younger pups. Since you were able to get him started on treatment right away, he has a fairly good chance of surviving. I hope he's able to pull through. <3
