My dog has Parvo but is active. What are the chances and timeline?

I'm sorry Gizmo has parvo! It is a good sign that he's eating, and hopefully he can start on puppy food again soon. It sounds like he is doing very well soo far. His chances of survival are good/favorable. If he is eating and no vomiting, then he can likely come home now to continue his treatment with you as he continues to recover from parvo. It can survive, but parvo is a very deadly disease so there is a good chance the dog can die. To have the best chance of survival, your dog does need to be hospitalized. Parvovirus treatment consists of aggressive supportive care to control the symptoms and boost your dog’s immune system to help him win the battle against this dangerous disease. Dogs infected with parvovirus need intensive treatment in a veterinary hospital, where they receive antibiotics, drugs to control the vomiting, intravenous fluids and other supportive therapies. Most pets will begin showing signs of recovery after 4-5 days of starting treatment. It sounds like Celie is still not doing as well as expected and that is concerning. I recommend to have her examined again. Have her bloodwork checked to see if she is struggling with low blood protein levels or low platelet numbers. Some pets may need additional colloid fluids or a plasma transfusion. Your veterinarian may also need to do an x-ray to see if there is something else going on like an intestinal blockage. Celie should also be eating a bland diet. I recommend one of the prescription diets like Hill's i/d or Royal Canin gastrointestinal. She may need to be force fed (but only do so with your veterinarian's approval). If you do continue to feed her baby food, make sure there are no onions or garlic in the ingredients. If you cannot get food into her easily, she may need a feeding tube placed or other form of parenternal nutrition. It sounds like you are trying very hard. I can't say if she should be examined tonight or not since I can't examine her and don't know what condition she is in. If she is declining though, she should be examined tonight for sure. These are very positive signs! When a dog survives the first four days of parvo, they have a very good chance of recovery. It may be a few weeks before Sammy is back to himself, but I think based on what you are telling us, those are good signs.
