Why is my dog panting with fast heart after eating chocolate granola?

Fast respiration can be a symptoms of chocolate intoxication but it could also be a sign of nausea, abdominal pain, general discomfort. If Teal continues to pant or develops other symptoms of chocolate intoxication, like racing heart, generalized tremors, restlessness, nervousness you should take her to your local vets as an emergency.

The signs you are describing do sounds like a toxicity. Chocolate toxicity depends on the size of the dog, amount of chocolate consumed, and the type of chocolate, with dark chocolate being more toxic. Although the THC content can cause some severe symptoms in dogs, it is not likely to be fatal or to cause any long lasting effect, the symptoms can last up to 48 hours though so i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get to get supportive treatment. the chocolate itself is actually more dangerous that he canabis but if the amount is not more than 15 gr then this is fine as well, it's a low amount of chocolate, nothing that would cause any serious toxic effects.

Hi, I think she needs to be admitted to the hospital for treatment with antiarrythmic medicatiions and anything else depending on how she is when she gets there. She will likely need to have activated charcoal. I hope you can have her rechecked soon as I have had bad experiences with chocolate toxicities t=in dogs with such a high heart rate. It's difficult to know how much the actual cocoa content is in this, but my estimate is that it would be at-most enough to cause a moderate to severe reaction. Rosie is already showing signs of a mild reaction, which is hyperactivity. Further signs of toxicity can be vomiting, tremors and seizures. If you notice any of these signs, then it's best to take Rosie to a vet for treatment/monitoring, because chocolate toxicity can be deadly. Unfortunately, there is not much that can be done at home for this. It's best to make sure she has plenty of water and that you check her every two hours for any further signs of toxicity. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I don;t think panting for a few seconds is considered heat stroke. Huskies are arctic breeds and are very susceptible to the heat. Keep him indoors during the hot, humid days. You could take his temperature if worried. Use a digital thermometer rectally. Normal temperature is 99-102. I would consider 104 or higher potentially heat stroke. I hope this helps! Good luck!
