Why is my dog panting after I had a panic or anxiety attack?

No, this alone wouldn't indicate Cushing's, and would be odd for a puppy of this age. That said, exercise intolerance, fear/panic, stress, or underlying health issues can all cause what you are describing. I'd take Ann to your vet for a full workup just to rule out any serious health issues, and then from there see if you can find a behavioral trigger that may be causing stress or panic. Working on socialization and calming behaviors (focusing on a treat or toy, distracting with a game, moving to a quiet area to relax, etc) may help with stress triggers or panic triggers.

Hi there and thank you for your post! Anxiety can defi itwly cause the excessive panting. Storm anxiety and a warm ambient temperature can definitely lead to the panting you are seeing. As long as he hasn't had any respiratory distress recently and that this started just when the thunderstorm hit, he should be ok to monitor at home. Reassuring him and turning down the temperature in the house may help. I would look into some things to help with anxiety such as adaption collar and diffuser. If the anxiety is getting bad enough, I would consult with your vet and see about anti anxiety medications as an option for goalie. I hope this helps Out! These are vague signs that could indicate several things like anxiety or pain. If there is something they could be making him anxious (rain, thunder, fireworks, new people, etc), then he will calm down afterwards. Just give him some extra attention. If there is nothing you can think that is making him anxious he could be in discomfort. I would have your vet do an exam to make sure he doesn't need any pain medication. I think that with any abnormal behavior you should call your vet for advice since they knew all that went on. I'm assuming he is taking some medications? The excessive panting could be from that. I think you should just check in with them to be on the safe side!

Heavy panting can be a sign of distress or pain. If Pixel was just at the vet this morning, it is possible she is still stressed out from the visit and travel, and may need an hour or two to help settle back down at home and let the pain medications begin working. I would monitor her for a bit to see if she settles in. If the heavy panting continues or worsens, she seems in severe pain, has blue or pale gums, or won't settle/seems very uncomfortable after a few hours, calling your vet to let them know what is going on, or seeking care from an urgent care vet may be best.
