Could my dog's pancreatitis and vomiting be from a rabies shot?

It is unlikely that the vomiting and diarrhea are related to the rabies vaccination given how long it has been going on. Vomiting and diarrhea can be due to intestinal parasites (worms), gastritis, pancreatitis, intestinal obstruction or even Irritable vowel syndrome. Your veterinarian will be able to examine and test Tyson to determine what is causing this problem and prescribe appropriate treatment.

Poor Robin! I can see that her stool has some frank good in it. This can be caused by inflammatory bowel disease, ulcers, chronic foreign bodies, as well as pancreatitis. With pancreatitis, it is typically caused by them eating something that they were not supposed too. Usually from human food. I agree that changing Shadow's diet to a bland diet and keeping him on antibiotics (not long term) will be beneficial for him. Pancreatitis can be serious and is usually painful. Most dogs do very well on exactly what your vet is doing while more severe cases require intensive treatment and hospitalization. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor guy! Pancreatitis can cause vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia and belly pain. It is a cause of vomiting and diarrhea but it isn't the only cause. Other causes are: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, toxin ingestion, IBD, food allergy/intolerance or reaction to eating something outside or a new treat/food/people food. Since he has been low grade vomiting now for 2 days it is best to have him seen soon if it continues. It is encouraging that he is eating. I would be sure you fasted him for 12-24 hours then resume feeding with a very bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger with rice. Make the meals very small. Only offer small amounts of water. If he is lethargic, won't eat and the vomiting continues even on a low grade scale he should be seen before the weekend. I hope this helps and I wish you all the best!

Pancreatitis is inflammation of the pancreas. It can be caused secondary to any type of inflammation in the stomach or possible high fat diet. IF Olive ate cat poop than started vomiting. It is possible the vomiting cause pancreatitis but the poop just caused gastric upset. Pancreatitis can be mild where patient recovers fast or can be really severe where patient needs hospitalized. I have not personally seen a case of pancreatitis due to mold. However if the mold caused vomiting or diarrhea it is possible. It can affect the white blood cells in the body. Typically the wbc do increase with this disease because of inflammation. hope that helps

There are many things that could cause the symptoms you're describing, so it's hard to say what might be wrong without being able to examine her and run some tests. Some common possibilities would include infectious diseases like parvo or distemper (if she isn't fully vaccinated), an intestinal obstruction, or ingestion of something toxic. Rabies is extremely rare in pet dogs in the United States and usually causes neurologic signs rather than GI issues, but this is something you can talk to your veterinarian about if you're concerned. Since this sounds like a serious problem, I would strongly recommend taking Butters to the vet today for an exam. He/she can test her for parvo and may also recommend lab work or other testing if needed to help diagnose the problem so she can get started on appropriate treatment right away.
