Why is my puppy suddenly listless, weak, vomiting, and not eating?

She might have a condition called "Parvovirus" which is a very serious virus that affects puppies, and is more likely if Joplin is unvaccinated. The other possible causes in a puppy include an obstruction in her gut (a blockage from a foreign object (ex. ball) that she ate, or an intussusception (the intestines telescoping in on each other). Also, depending on her age, pyometra is possible along with many other conditions. With what you are describing, I am very concerned that she could die without aggressive care. I strongly recommend you get Joplin to a vet right away, and if your vet is closed go to your closest emergency clinic. They will recommend a test of her poop, as well as possible bloodwork and x-rays, and will likely want to keep her in hospital on IV fluids and medications. It sounds like your dog is sick. The drooling can be due to nausea, and the lethargy, vomiting, anorexia, and diarrhea could be due to a severe GI illness, eating something rotten, pancreatitis, or a foreign body. I would take your dog into a vet right away for an exam, he sounds quite ill with all these symptoms, and he needs to be medically treated ASAP.

The clinical signs you describe are concerning when they occur in a puppy as they can be seen with serious gastrointestinal infections such as Parvovirus. Other possibilities include intestinal worms and dietary indiscretion, among other possibilities. The sooner these conditions are treated the better the outcome tends to be. For this reason, I recommend that you have Kagome evaluated by your veterinarian to check for these possibilities and to start therapy based on findings. Some can be serious and others not so serious. She might have eaten something that either disagreed with her or may be causing an [obstruction](https://www.petcoach.co/article/7-things-you-should-know-about-foreign-bodies-in-dogs) somewhere in her gastrointestinal tract. She could be sore from an unknown injury. She could have been exposed to or ingested a[ toxin](https://www.petcoach.co/article/5-cleaning-products-that-are-toxic-to-pets) or irritant in her environment or this could be early signs of another condition or disease process. A complete physical exam by your veterinarian or at the nearest veterinary ER would be recommended if symptoms persist for more than 24 hours. Poor Pookie! It definitely sounds like something is wrong. These symptoms could certainly be caused by distemper, but could also be due to many other illnesses, so it's not possible to say what's wrong without being able to examine her and run some tests. I would recommend taking her to the vet for an exam. He/she can do blood work or other testing if needed to help diagnose the problem and get her started on appropriate treatment depending on what is found.

Poor Daisy! If she's vomiting, acting lethargic, and not wanting to eat or drink much, this is quite serious and she needs to be seen by a veterinarian right away. I would recommend taking her in today for an exam. She may have an illness like parvo at this point, even if she tested negative recently - or she may have some other problem causing her current symptoms. Regardless of the underlying cause, these symptoms can be life-threatening in a puppy this age, so she needs veterinary care right away.

Other considerations may include pancreatitis, foreign body in gi tract (partial or complete obstruction), parasites, dietary indiscretion causing gastroenteritis, intussuception, and a few others. All of these would require further testing or evaluation to identify. Because your dog is so small it can easily become hypoglycemic if not eating. As a result, I would recommend seeing your vet or an ER vet if you cannot get in by the morning if symptoms havent inproved significantly. You can rub a little corn syrup or maple syrup on the gums to try and stave off low sugar temporarily. If vomiting becomes more frequent overnight, you shouldn't wait until morning.
